European hydrogen leaders are calling on policymakers to quickly adopt a new EU strategy underpinned by regulatory simplicity and offering lead markets, or risk losing strategic advantage.

In a press conference today (30 September), the heads tech manufacturers, vehicle OEMs, and energy providers said Europe was at a “geopolitical turning point” which underscored the need for a “hydrogen-based resilience strategy”.

“Europe must produce, store, and refine much of its own fuels while strengthening its strategic partnerships to diversify its energy imports,” said Hydrogen Europe CEO Jorgo Chatzimarkakis.
