Formalised with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU), the agreement will run for three years and support the development of the hydrogen value chain to enable the clean energy carrier to become a prominent fuel in maritime applications.

This could prove to be a huge boost for the maritime industry with hydrogen providing a basis to decarbonise the sector.

Dr. Uwe Lauber, CEO of MAN Energy Solutions, said, “Reaching the 1.5°C target requires a major reduction in the shipping industry’s carbon footprint, a storm that really demands all hands on deck.
