
Industrial use will likely remain the “backbone” of future clean hydrogen demand, the International Energy Agency (IEA) has said, as it branded the energy carrier “no passing fad.”
In its Energy Technology Perspectives 2026 report, the energy watchdog acknowledged that project cancellations, delays, and weakening policy ambition have raised doubts about hydrogen’s long-term role in the future energy system.
