Most European gas networks can safely handle up to 20% hydrogen blends, according to energy engineering and consultancy firm Penspen.
CEO Peter O’Sullivan told H2 View that the majority of Europe’s distribution networks are plastic, mostly polyethylene (HDPE/MDPE), which is immune to hydrogen embrittlement, one of the main risks in metallic pipelines.
