H2-View News: Plug secures $1.66bn US DOE loan guarantee for up to six green hydrogen plants

The loan guarantee is hoped to lower the risk of potential financers as Plug looks to add to develop, construct and own up to six US green hydrogen production facilities. Plug has said facilities will be selected for financing in line with procedures set out with the DOE. It comes as the company which has brought several US liquid green hydrogen plants up to nameplate capacity this year strives to secure its financial position, after its latest quarterly report highlighted almost $300m in losses. Andy Marsh, CEO of Plug Power, said the loan guarantee will prove “instrumental” to grow not [...]

H2-View News: ‘A future made in Australia’: Albanese gov earmarks $4.4bn for hydrogen tax credits

Designed as an answer the US’ Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), the Hydrogen Production Tax Incentive will see AUD $6.7bn offered in tax credits to hydrogen producers per kilogramme based on the cost of production. This is expected to be introduced from 2027 to 2028. In addition, a further AUD $1.3bn ($859m) has been added to allow for another round of the Hydrogen Headstart programme, designed to support “early movers to invest in the industry’s development.” Under the “Future Made in Australia” package, AUD $1.7bn ($1.1bn) will be provided to promote Net Zero innovation, such as green metals and low carbon [...]

H2-View News: FertigHy to produce 500,000tpa of fertilisers using hydrogen

Located in the Hauts-de-France region, the project will require €1.3bn ($1.4bn) CAPEX investment to ensure it begins operation by 2030, with construction kickstarting in 2027. The production process will see renewable and low-carbon electricity used to produce hydrogen, which is anticipated to produce up to 500,000 tonnes of low carbon, nitrogen-based fertiliser per year – 10% of France’s agricultural sector’s consumption. The French Government is expected to provide support to enable operations, after the announcement was made during the Choose France Summit on May 13, hosted by Emmanuel Macron, President of France. “Running on renewable and low carbon electricity, this [...]

H2-View News: Hazer eyes Canadian methane pyrolysis plant after reaching 100 hours of operation

Hazer has signed a binding project development agreement (PDA) with FortisBC Energy to pursue the development of a hydrogen production facility in British Columbia that will utilise the pyrolysis technology to produce up to 2,500 tonnes of hydrogen and around 9,500 tonnes of graphite per year. Utilising its Hazer® process, the company’s technology uses natural gas and unprocessed iron as a feedstock to deliver hydrogen and graphite products. It comes after the firm that produced its first molecules of hydrogen in February (2024) has now said it reached 100 hours of operation from its pilot site in Perth, Australia. Read [...]
