According to reports, the prototype train successfully passed load testing at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, one of Indian Railways’ largest and oldest train manufacturing facilities. Expected to be rolled out on the Jind-Sonepat route in Haryana, the diesel electric multiple unit (DEMU) will run two daily trips totalling 356km and carry over 2,600 passengers per day. ITM Power’s new plant-building subsidiary aims to produce hydrogen at a cost others “can only dream of,” the company’s CEO has said. Dennis Schulz told analysts that Hydropulse will avoid “unnecessary intermediaries” to provide industrial users with low-cost green hydrogen. The business was launched in June to build decentralised small-scale green hydrogen plants to supply industrial customers under long-term offtake agreements. The New Delhi-based energy company will supply 85,000 tonnes of hydrogen-based ammonia per year to Coromandel International’s fertiliser plant in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. The hydrogen-powered trains usually operate on the RB33 line between Cuxhaven, Bremerhaven, Bremervörde and Buxtehude. In its Q2 2025 earnings call, Westport reported that over 50% of its high-pressure controls and systems revenue now comes from China, almost entirely from hydrogen components. Westport’s High-Pressure Controls & Systems (HPCS) revenue fell from $3.6m in Q2 2024 to $2.9m in Q2 2025, a drop the company linked to a global hydrogen market slowdown. To speed up final investment decisions (FID), Hydrom will offer a 90% reduction in land lease fees during the development stage, with the discount potentially extended or increased during the engineering phase. Additionally, Hydrom will offer significant base royalty reductions in the early years of production and corporate tax exemptions for up to 10 years.
