H2-View News: Hy2Gen to supply hydrogen-based ammonia to local mining explosives manufacturer
The CEO, Cyril Dufau-Sansot, confirmed to H2 View that the unnamed partner will locally transform green ammonia into ammonium nitrate, the main feedstock of mining explosives. The initiative is set to begin in 2027 and green ammonia production to start in 2030, boasting 300MW of electrolyser capacity. Last year, Hy2Gen was awarded 307MW of electricity to produce 230,000 tonnes of green ammonia per year at the facility. On Wednesday (March 19), the company officially submitted a project notice for the ammonia plant, meaning the project is now progressing towards approval from Québec’s Minister of the Environment, “marking the end of [...]
H2-View News: Plug Power CEO takes 50% of salary in stock to reassure hydrogen investors
The move is hoped to counter scepticism around the company’s ability to turn a profit by directly tying the boss’ financial interest more tightly to the company’s performance. Plug’s stock has dropped from over $3.50 a year ago to $1.58 as of March 20. “Aligning my compensation with our company’s outlook, both short and long-term, is a demonstration of my confidence in our vision, our team and the value we are creating for shareholders,” Marsh said in a statement. It comes after Plug logged a $2.1bn loss in 2024 – seeing its accumulated deficit rise to $6.6bn. A large portion [...]
H2-View News: India’s fossil-fuelled growth could hamper green hydrogen ambitions: WoodMac
Cost-competitive fossil fuels and insufficient transportation and storage infrastructure will prevent a surge in Indian green hydrogen demand by 2033, according to a new report by Wood MacKenzie. That’s despite the nation’s big ambitions on the energy carrier, backed up by government support and the second-lowest electrolytic levelised cost of hydrogen (LCOH) in Asia. H2-View News: Air Liquide Venture Capital invests in US AEM electrolyser start-up P2H2
The French industrial gas major’s venture capital arm made an undisclosed investment in Power to Hydrogen (P2H2) to support the US firm’s capital-raising efforts. It comes after the company closed its Series A round in August 2024 having raised over $18m to scale and deploy its electrolysis technology based on a hybrid liquid alkaline-AEM stack design. The first close saw participation from EDP Ventures, American Electric Power (AEP), Asahi Kasei, JERA and more. H2 View has contacted P2H2 for confirmation on the second close’s participation and value. P2H2 CEO, Paul Matter, said the support from Air Liquide was a “powerful [...]
H2-View News: Hyting’s hydrogen heating generator secures certification for European markets
Certified under the Gas Appliance Regulation (GAR), the German firm’s 10kW heat generator underwent testing by Kiwa, an independent testing, inspection, and certification (TIC) company. Tim Hannig, Founder and Managing Director of Hyting said the certification demonstrates to its customers and investors that the technology “is not only safe, but also market-ready.” He added, “We chose Kiwa to carry out the certification because it is a trusted partner within the heating sector and has a proven reputation for technical excellence.” Hyting claims its 10-50kW units offer efficient and clean forced-air heating fuelled by hydrogen, with no CO2, NOx or particulate [...]
H2-View News: India’s second green hydrogen auction awards $258m to nine companies
India allocated ₹22.39bn crores ($258.84m) to support 450,000 tonnes per year of green hydrogen production – the maximum allowable under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Programme. Last December, the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) announced that the country’s second hydrogen auction was oversubscribed, attracting 14 bids for 625,500 tonnes. In the end, four bidders missed out, while those who aimed for maximum subsidies in select years lowered their overall average by quoting ultra-low rates in others. The second tranche of the Incentive Scheme for Green Hydrogen Production offers producers a three-year incentive with caps set at $0.61/kg in the [...]
H2-View News: CIP lands AUD $814m for 1.5GW Western Australia green hydrogen project
Energy Minister Chris Bowen today (March 20) gave the Western Australian project the green light by awarding it up to AUD $814m ($514m) in production incentives. The 10-year production credit, under the first AUD $2bn ($1.26bn) Hydrogen Headstart package, will be paid at “production milestones” to support the project’s development. While the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) has not confirmed the subsidy’s per-kilogramme rate, the project plans to produce 900,000 tonnes of green ammonia per year in its first stage. CIP intends to expand the plant to produce around two million tonnes of green hydrogen-based [...]
H2-View News: Iwatani backs out of AUD $12.5bn CQ-H2 project after Queensland Government pulls support: reports
Asian media outlet Nikkei first reported the news, indicating that Iwatani withdrew from the project amid mounting global challenges to decarbonisation. The Japanese multinational has also shut down its Queensland office, according to Nikkei. Just last month, the Queensland Government rejected project developer Stanwell Corporation’s AUD $1bn ($614m) funding request through the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA). Adding to the project’s setbacks, CQ-H2 lost another Japanese consortium partner last November when Kansai Electric withdrew. Under a 2020 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Stanwell, Iwatani planned to develop a large-scale liquefied renewable hydrogen supply chain between Central Queensland and Japan. The company played a [...]
H2-View News: Chancellor pledges £5.8bn for UK green hydrogen, carbon capture and more
Chancellor Rachel Reeves raised the entire fund’s economic capital limit from £4.5bn ($5.8bn) to £7bn ($9.07bn) to support projects that “struggle to access private finance.” The steer will direct investment into clean energy, advanced manufacturing, digital technologies and transport. However, it remains unclear how the Government will look to distribute the funds, although the Treasury makes it clear that it hopes to get returns on its investments. Under the plans, the Chancellor will set up a new UK forum of policymakers and financial institutions to assess priority investment areas to make sure “the government is getting maximum impact for its [...]
H2-View News: EU looks to protect steelmakers, accelerate grid connections and hydrogen uptake
The plan outlines measures to protect EU steelmakers from cheap imports by accelerating grid access and prioritising clean tech investments, as well as curbing imported volumes by up to 15%. However, specific measures remain unclear. It highlighted the need for a plentiful, affordable supply of renewable and low-carbon hydrogen to drive cleaner production. Without it, high costs and limited availability could stall adoption, the plan stated. “To make sure they [steelmakers] remain competitive, we must reduce energy costs and help them introduce innovative, low-carbon technologies to the market,” explained Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission. Many of the measures [...]
