H2-View News: Disciplined builders outpace stalled mega-projects in Europe’s hydrogen market: analyst
Westwood noted that while sanctioned capacity is rising, 71% of developers have only one sanctioned project, often dependent on exceptional public and EU subsidies, such as Stegra’s €6.5bn ($7.6bn) green steel plant in Sweden. Instead, the “disciplined builders” and “strategic performers” are establishing themselves as the continent’s hydrogen leaders, according to the analyst. These include companies focused on manageable, near-term projects that align with existing capabilities and deliver tangible results. Westwood highlighted Equinor for its “unique focused approach,” narrowing to three CCS-enabled projects and building an expected 1.8GW of capacity within a 3GW pipeline. Renato PtX, Hynamics and Plug Power are also advancing smaller [...]
H2-View News: Scottish Power puts UK green hydrogen plans on hold despite subsidy support
Scottish Power has paused the development of its green hydrogen projects, including two selected for UK government subsidies. The Iberdrola subsidiary confirmed the move to H2 View, citing “challenging conditions” and a “limited route to market” for green hydrogen. H2-View News: Finland rolls out first hydrogen buses in Jyväskylä pilot
The H2.City Gold units were rolled out on selected city routes to assess their performance under real-world conditions and were also deployed during the WRC Rally in early August. The buses were introduced into the region’s public transport network through a pilot led by the Central Finland Mobility Foundation (Cefmof) and leased to public transport operator, Koiviston Auto Jyväskylä. Tiago Sá, Sales Director at CaetanoBus, said launching the hydrogen buses during the WRC event was a significant milestone. H2 View understands that Portugal’s CaetanoBus has sold over 215 electric-hydrogen buses across Europe and registered 31 fuel cell buses in 2024, [...]
H2-View News: DNV upgrades UK testing and collaboration facility
The investment will help DNV demonstrate the safety of technologies that will underpin the push to Net Zero for all companies and organisations. With greater emphasis on interactivity and immersive technology, the site will feature 4k streaming capability, enabling corporates globally to watch demos in real time. Other features include AV equipped rooms and a 200-seater lecture hall. For more than 45 years, Spadeadam, which is located on a RAF base, has conducted large-scale research to assess the consequences of major hazards and their effects on people and properties. DNV’s latest investment in the site will create a shared space [...]
H2-View News: RWE awarded over €500m to build 100MW electrolyser plant in Eemshaven
The German energy firm plans to connect the electrolyser, located adjacent to the 1.4GW Magnum Power Station, to the 795MW OranjeWind offshore wind farm being developed in collaboration with TotalEnergies. Funding is expected to support the project’s next phase. Before RWE can take a final investment decision (FID), it must carry out the Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED), identify construction partners and secure offtake. The milestone comes almost a year after RWE secured construction and environmental permits to build the electrolyser plant in Eemshaven. Last year, the firm announced that the FID is contingent on the development of necessary hydrogen [...]

H2-View News: Nepal eyes $51m green hydrogen and fuel cell plant
Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the two companies will prepare a Detailed Feasibility Study Report for the initiative. The plant is expected to need around $51m in total investment, from planning to commissioning. Under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, where both the government of Nepal, through the IBN, and the private sector partner, G-Philos, will share roles, responsibilities and risks. If realised, the project would deliver the country’s first commercial-scale green hydrogen and fuel cell project. The project could leverage Nepal’s abundant hydropower as a feedstock for hydrogen production. The nation has already explored the potential of hydrogen through [...]
H2-View News: India and Japan sign clean hydrogen and ammonia cooperation agreement
India’s renewable energy ministry and Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) have said the two countries are to work together on hydrogen and ammonia value chains and support low-carbon development. The countries will focus on five key areas of cooperation: research and innovation, policy, standards and trade facilitation, trade and investment, and international talks. They will also prioritise port and infrastructure development, as well as supply chains and trade corridors. “Through this [declaration], participants believe that India and Japan will leverage their combined strength to promote hydrogen/ammonia ecosystems in India, Japan and third countries,” a statement from METI [...]
H2-View News: Germany pushes H2Global funding towards €3bn under 2026 federal budget
The update follows February’s launch of the second H2Global auction, which earmarked €2.5bn ($2.9bn) across four regional lots and one global lot. The revised 10-year funding structure is seen as critical for giving producers the bankable certainty to reach final investment decisions (FID). According to the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWK), each regional lot would receive €58m ($68m) annually from 2029 to 2038, a total of €580m ($680m) per lot, while the revised global lot would provide €30m ($35m) per year from 2032 to 2041, amounting to €300m ($351m) in total. The Netherlands’ contribution to the auction [...]
