H2-View News: Plug Power to engineer hydrogen-based SAF plant in Las Vegas
Under an agreement with Edgewood Renewables, Plug will use its hydrogen plant design experience to help build and integrate hydrogen into the SAF production process. Specifically, the US green hydrogen firm will lead the engineering design, key product supply, fabrication, and project oversight. Plug said the project “expands its reach beyond hydrogen into complementary clean fuel markets.” Located at a former fuel-terminal site in Nevada, the plant will convert biomass into low-carbon fuels using thermochemical processes that integrate renewable natural gas and hydrogen. Edgewood plans to produce over 120 million gallons of SAF per year. Construction of the facility and [...]
H2-View News: Asahi Kasei to build alkaline electrolyser component plants at Kawasaki Works
Specifically, these new sites will expand Asahi’s capacity to build electrolysis cell frames and membranes. The facilities are expected to supply both alkaline electrolysis systems for clean hydrogen production and ion-exchange membrane chlor-alkali electrolysis systems that are used to manufacture chlorine and caustic soda. The expansion was selected for financial support of up to ¥11.4 bn ($73m) last December, under the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry’s GX Supply Chain Development Programme. “This investment strengthens vertical integration across key materials for hydrogen and chlor-alkali markets, enhancing stable supply to meet future market growth,” Asahi said in a statement. Asahi’s [...]
H2-View News: RGU awarded £800,000 for SOEC hydrogen production project
The UK government-backed Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) awarded RGU the funding. Scottish university researchers will use solid oxide steam electrolysers (SOSE) to produce clean hydrogen. RGU will build on the School of Computing, Engineering and Technology’s (SoCET) development of a high-temperature tubular electrolyser cell capable of operating between 600°C and 900°C. “This investment allows us to push forward the science and engineering needed to make solid oxide steam electrolysis commercially viable while creating new opportunities for sustainable innovation in partnership with industry,” explained Project Lead, Professor Nadimul Faisal. The METASIS 2.0 project is part of a wider [...]

H2-View News: HEA launches ‘state of the hydrogen nation’ survey
The HEA expects the survey to deliver a clear snapshot of the UK hydrogen industry’s current state, assessing factors such as business confidence, workforce skills, investment levels, and key challenges. It will also offer recommendations for government actions to maximise job creation, investment, and decarbonisation opportunities in the hydrogen sector. The final results will form a detailed report for government, businesses, and investors, scheduled for publication in early 2026. Hydrogen will be “pivotal” to the UK’s energy ambitions, according to Dr. Emma Guthrie, CEO of the Hydrogen Energy Association. “By hearing directly from businesses at the forefront of production, storage, [...]
H2-View News: RTU leads construction of hydrogen-powered fishing boat
Riga Technical University (RTU) will lead a consortium of partners from France, Lithuania, and Estonia to build the 12-metre coastal vessel at the AtoZ shipyard in Riga. France’s Genevos will supply the 40kW fuel cell, while the Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences and the Tallinn Centre of the Stockholm Environmental Institute will also support the €3.38m ($3.9m) project. Backed with €2.8m ($3.2m) from the EU, through its Mission Ocean programme, the project is set to run until October 31, 2026. RTU’s Maria Indrikova said the aim is to create “a sustainable technological solution,” which can be “practical, reliable, and contribute [...]
H2-View News: Upbeat Lhyfe CEO pins green hydrogen hopes on large scale and modular
Founder, Chairman and CEO Matthieu Guesné said its 100MW Green Horizon project in Normandy is “well on track” for final investment decision in 2026. The second tranche of French government subsidy should be released “in the first half of next year” for the 28,000 sqm project. The first payment, for €18.6m, was received in June. “The time it takes us to get the environmental authorisation [and] to start the construction [means it will] enter commercial operation in 2029,” he said. “Any site which is now starting this kind of authorisation will not enter into operation before the end of the [...]
H2-View News: ICL to manage ammonia supply for new hydrogen JV with AFC Energy
Under the 50:50 partnership, ICL will procure and manage ammonia supplies, leverage its existing logistics network to transport the fuel safely, and connect the resulting hydrogen to its established industrial customer base. The hydrogen produced will then be marketed and sold jointly, targeting users who need low-carbon, cost-competitive hydrogen without major new infrastructure. “By harnessing ammonia, we can provide customers with cost-effective, low-carbon hydrogen without the need for large-scale, capital-intensive domestic hydrogen facilities,” ICL’s statement said. “Leveraging ammonia’s role as a globally traded commodity with existing storage and infrastructure will unlock a flexible and economically viable supply chain for the [...]

H2-View News: Zonal power pricing would cut German green hydrogen costs by 20%: Hy2Gen
The green hydrogen producer has argued zonal pricing could make green hydrogen production 20% cheaper, as electricity accounts for 70–80% of electrolysis costs. Yet under Germany’s single price zone, uniform wholesale rates apply nationwide, even in the north, where renewable power is abundant and cheaper. Adjusting price zones could “save companies more than €2bn in electricity costs,” Hy2Gen stated. The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) claimed the economic gains from splitting the price zone would be lower than the costs of reconfiguring the market. Katherina Reiche, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy © BMWE/Chaperon Instead, the [...]
