H2-View News: Norwegian Hydrogen to supply hydrogen to Swedish heavy-duty transport firm
Under a “long-term contract”, heavy-duty transport and industrial machinery firm MaserFrakt will receive the molecules to support the uptake of hydrogen vehicles in its fleet. While the contract’s terms, like sales volume or end date, have not been revealed, H2 View understands hydrogen will be supplied for Norwegian Hydrogen’s 1.3-tonne-per-day Hellesylt Hydrogen Hub. MaserFrakt has not said how many hydrogen trucks it will introduce into its fleet of more than 1,100 vehicles, including over 600 trucks. “With green hydrogen-powered trucks, we can reduce our carbon footprint without compromising capacity or availability,” said Maserfrakt CEO, Per Bondemark. Norwegian Hydrogen, which is [...]
H2-View News: Meranti Green Steel opens Muscat office ahead of FID on Oman green steel plant
The Singapore-headquartered company held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at which it slated the new facility as a landmark for its expansion in the Middle East. MGS plans to set up a 2.5 million-tonne-per-year (mtpa) hot briquetted iron (HBI) project in Oman’s Duqm industrial area, where it will use green hydrogen and natural gas to power a direct reduced iron process. With plans to take FID on the project by the middle of this year, the company will gradually increase the amount of green hydrogen used in the process, in line with European carbon prices. Having lined up offtake for all 2.5 [...]
H2-View News: Electrolyser part maker books €55m write-down after pausing Belgian plant output
The steel wire transformation and coating technologies firm announced the one-off charge in its full-year 2025 results, where it reported consolidated sales of €3.7bn ($4.37bn). The temporary halt at the Bekintex site in Wetteren was announced in October, with Bekaert citing slow green hydrogen market development for the “foreseeable future.” “Slower growth in the hydrogen end market required adjustment to bring footprint in line with demand outlook,” the company said in its results. Bekaert makes porous transport layers for PEM and AEM electrolyser systems, which distribute electrical current and fluid across the surface of membranes. Despite the halt in activities [...]
H2-View News: Nel revenues drops 31% as losses more than treble in ‘demanding’ 2025
The company’s operating loss grew from NOK 389m ($40.7m) to NOK 1.365bn ($142.9m), with its revenues falling to NOK 963m ($100.8m). EBITDA also widened from NOK –173m (–$18.1m) to NOK –275m (–$28.8m). Despite the mounting losses, the company’s cash balance remained relatively stable, dropping to NOK 1.6bn ($167m) from NOK 1.87bn ($195.7m). Additionally, its order intake grew to a level comparable with its 2023 results, increasing from NOK 977m ($102m) in 2024 to NOK 1.13bn ($118m). This left its order backlog standing at NOK 1.32bn ($138m) compared to NOK 1.6bn ($167m) in 2024. However, Nel said delays in government incentives, [...]
H2-View News: Japanese duo injects hydrogen-based synthetic methane into gas grid
E-methane was produced by a test facility, connected to Inpex’s Koshijihara Plant, by combining hydrogen and carbon dioxide, and distributed through Osaka’s natural gas pipeline network. The gas, which is chemically identical to methane, is made by reacting CO2 and green hydrogen at a high temperature in the presence of a catalyst, in a methanation system developed by Osaka Gas. The CO2 was captured from the Koshijihara Plant’s industrial processes, while the source of hydrogen remains unidentified. Inpex said the facility is the “world’s largest”, processing 400 normal cubic meters of CO2 per hour – enough to meet the gas [...]
H2-View News: Germany commits €11.6m to hydrogen buses in Ruhr region
The funding from Germany’s Federal Ministry of Transport looks to accelerate the gradual replacement of diesel buses in the Ruhr region. The new buses will add to an existing fleet of 19, which have operated in the area since 2025, to bring the total hydrogen-powered fleet to 78 by 2027/2028. Seven new vehicles are expected to enter service this year. Federal Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder praised the range, refuelling times, and operational flexibility of the hydrogen buses. “We are supporting transport companies in modernising their fleets step by step – for clean mobility, economic strength, and reliable services for local [...]
H2-View News: Swedish steel consortium extends underground hydrogen storage pilot
The extension allows continued exploration of fossil-free hydrogen storage for supporting the Swedish energy system through ongoing tests. Hybrit is the joint-venture (JV) of a Swedish trio comprising of steel manufacturer, SSAB, and state-owned mining and energy companies, LKAB and Vattenfall. In 2022, it commissioned the pilot storage facility, situated 30 metres below ground in Svartöberget, Luleå, which allows hydrogen to replace coal and coke in the production of iron and steel to it fossil-free. Marie Anheden, Project Manager at Vattenfall, said the new permit could progress the storage cavern’s capacity to facilitate cheaper hydrogen production. “The project’s tests have [...]
H2-View News: Hybrid electrolyser model offers ROI boost under dual EU hydrogen rules: Lhyfe
Operating electrolysers to meet regulations for both Europe’s green and low-carbon hydrogen rules could improve utilisation rates and return on investment (ROI), according to project developer and operator Lhyfe. The French green hydrogen firm told H2 View that it is “anticipating” hybrid electrolyser configurations that could switch between producing hydrogen under Europe’s renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBO) and low-carbon rules. H2-View News: Gas Networks Ireland eyes feasibility studies for green hydrogen pilot project
Under an agreement with the Corrib joint venture between Nephin Energy and Vermilion Energy, the state-owned gas network operator will undertake feasibility studies and technical assessments for a facility at the Bellanaboy Bridge Gas Terminal. The project could use existing infrastructure, connectivity, and renewable energy potential for hydrogen production. Specifics about the prospective project, including technology choices or a development timeline, have not been revealed. Corrib is also assessing a range of energy opportunities for the site. David Kelly, CEO of GNI, said the agreement could help inform how hydrogen might play a role in existing gas grids. “It is [...]
H2-View News: Energinet selects Worley for first phase of Danish Hydrogen Backbone
Under a new five-year deal, the UK-based engineering firm will provide EPC services for around 41km of new pipeline and the conversion of around 89km of existing natural gas pipeline. The agreement covers the first stage of the Danish Hydrogen Backbone, intended for commission by the end of 2030, and gives Worley responsibility for technical design, tendering, and construction management. This initial project will run east from Esbjerg on Denmark’s west coast, to Veerst and then to Frøslev on the German border. It will include associated infrastructure like above-ground stations, necessary to support future export to Germany. In October 2024 [...]
