H2-View News: Two flagship Oman green hydrogen projects scrapped amid market reassessment

Two of Oman’s flagship green hydrogen projects have been quietly dropped after a market reassessment, dealing a setback to one of the sector’s most closely watched development programmes. In a filing by Oman News Agency, Hydrom Managing Director Abdulaziz Al Shidhani told the 2025 Green Hydrogen Summit Oman that only seven of the nine original projects that won land tenders were progressing. He said two projects were concluded by “mutual agreement” after they were reassessed due to “market dynamics”. H2-View News: UK government confirms plans for hydrogen pipeline regulatory framework

It comes after the conclusion of a two-month consultation which sought views on how legislation could be adapted to underpin the development of dedicated hydrogen transmission infrastructure. The moves are intended to give clarity to investors, set basic market rules, and ensure early networks operate safely and efficiently. The government plans to retain the existing “primary” and “residual” balancing roles used in the gas system. In practice, this means there will be a clear chain of responsibility to ensure the amount of hydrogen entering matches the amount being taken to maintain pressure and system integrity. Ministers are still considering how [...]

H2-View News: Spain adds €415m to national green hydrogen auctions

Set to be awarded through the Auction-as-a-Service (AaaS) mechanism, the funds will be directed to green hydrogen production and use projects. €278.6m ($325m) will be directed towards production for any sector, while €136.4m ($159m) will be aimed at projects supplying maritime and aviation. Like the EU’s bloc-wide European Hydrogen Bank auctions, the AaaS scheme will provide a fixed premium per kilogramme of RFNBO green hydrogen for up to 10 years, once projects enter operations. It adds to the original pot of €400m ($466m) approved by the European Commission earlier this year, which in November issued its first €126m ($147m) to [...]

With more projects heading toward construction, alongside a consolidation of developments and companies, the Council said its leadership will focus on priorities including demand, infrastructure and standards. Air Liquide was one of 13 founding members of the Council in 2017 and has been increasing its clean hydrogen project developments alongside its traditional industrial gas business. Jackow has headed the French firm since 2022 and said he was “convinced” industry-led coalitions like the Council could “make a difference.” [...]

H2-View News: Hyundai looks to develop fuel cell systems for hydrogen carrier vessels

Under a memorandum of understanding (MOU), the trio will use Hyundai’s PEM fuel cells – typically used in its road vehicles – as a base for the systems. Shipbuilder HD KSOE intends to integrate the fuel cell technology with hydrogen dual-fuel engines to deliver a hybrid electrified propulsion system for mid- to large-scale liquefied hydrogen carriers. PNU will look to evaluate and demonstrate the system. Hyundai Executive Vice-President, Ken Ramírez, said the group aims to “set a new standard for future marine mobility.” HD KSOE has been developing designs for liquid hydrogen carriers that could run on hybrid electric and [...]
