H2-View News: Splitting power price zone would cut German green hydrogen costs by 20%: Hy2Gen
The green hydrogen producer has argued that doing so could make green hydrogen production 20% cheaper, as electricity accounts for 70–80% of electrolysis costs. Yet under Germany’s single price zone, uniform wholesale rates apply nationwide, even in the north, where renewable power is abundant and cheaper. Adjusting price zones could “save companies more than €2bn in electricity costs,” Hy2Gen stated. However, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) claimed the economic gains from splitting the price zone would be lower than the costs of reconfiguring the market. Katherina Reiche, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy © BMWE/Chaperon [...]
H2-View News: Daimler, KHI, HHLA aim to prove viability of liquid hydrogen imports for Europe
Under a new memorandum of understanding (MoU), the trio will explore importing liquid hydrogen through the Port of Hamburg for onward transport by road or rail. KHI is expected to handle supply from liquefaction and shipping – using its liquid hydrogen carrier technology to ship hydrogen from low-cost producers to Europe. HHLA will look at how to receive, store, and distribute the hydrogen, with Daimler hoping to deploy its fuel cell trucks for transportation. They say the collaboration could build a model for a European liquid hydrogen supply chain to prove its technical and economic viability. The firms are also [...]
H2-View News: Stargate Hydrogen’s 10MW electrolyser to make commercial debut in Åland with OX2
The project, led by OX2, marks the first commercial installation of Stargate’s ceramic-based 10MW Aurora electrolyser and forms part of a wider non-binding agreement to develop large-scale green hydrogen projects across the Nordics. “Partnering with Stargate Hydrogen allows us to connect world-class electrolyser technology with our large-scale renewable energy portfolio,” Anders Wiklund said, the Regional Manager at OX2 Ålund. By the end of 2024, the Swedish energy firm’s portfolio represented over 25GW under development across nine markets. Under the cooperation agreement, the two companies will also work within ABB’s €150m H2 Springboard programme, contributing technology and expertise to attract public [...]
H2-View News: Gen2 Energy and MB Energy explore Norway-Germany liquid hydrogen trade route
Over the next three years, the partners will study and structure a supply chain linking Gen2 Energy’s planned hydrogen projects in Nesbruket and Holandsvika, both slated to begin production in 2027, with potential offtake markets in Germany. The collaboration is intended to strengthen Gen2 Energy’s financing and permitting prospects, both essential steps toward reaching a final investment decision (FID). H2 View understands that they will assess technical, economic, and safety feasibility, explore transport options from Norway to Germany, and identify import, storage, and distribution sites. “Our collaboration with MB Energy provides access to the German market,” according to Gen2’s CEO [...]
H2-View News: US AEM start-up secures €900k EU grant for Antwerp green hydrogen deployment
The grant from the EU Regional Development Fund was awarded by the Flanders innovation and entrepreneurship funding organisation VLAIO to help the firm deploy its technology in the Port of Antwerp’s demonstration district. P2H2 will install a “megawatt-class” electrolyser system based on its hybrid AEM technology, which it claims combines the lower costs of alkaline with the performance of PEM. It works by combining AEM and alkaline liquid electrolyte layers to overcome membrane oxidation and the use of “unstable ionomers” in the anode. The project, which was originally due to see the system installed in Q4 last year, will provide [...]
H2-View News: Plug Power delivers 44.5 tonnes of green hydrogen to German storage pilot
Plug sourced the hydrogen from Hy2Gen’s Atlantis electrolyser plant in Werlte, where it has exclusive access to 100% of the output. It used its own high-pressure hydrogen trailers and delivery equipment to deliver the fuel to the H2Cast project. Led by Gasunie and Storag Etzel, the project is converting salt caverns into large-scale hydrogen storage to help balance Germany’s energy grid and industrial demand year-round. “The success of our recent projects in Germany with H2Cast show that hydrogen works, and that it is scalable for strategic national energy requirements,” said Plug’s incoming CEO Jose Luis Crespo. The company President added, [...]
H2-View News: Austria awards €275m to four national hydrogen projects
The funding will be distributed by the state-owned development bank, AWS, and is part of a wider national planto invest €820m ($951m) between 2024 and 2026 in the hydrogen industry. The four selected projects are considered the first stage of Austria’s broader hydrogen rollout. Specifically, funding will support large-scale electrolysis, infrastructure, and system integration – areas identified in Austria’s Hydrogen Promotion Act. Reports suggest OMV’s EU-backed 140MW green hydrogen plant in Bruck an der Leitha, scheduled to begin operations in 2027, is one of the four initiatives selected by the Federal Ministry of Economy. The project has reached a final [...]
H2-View News: Hoerbiger to supply compressors for 105MW Hamburg hydrogen plant
Part of the Hamburg Green Hydrogen Hub (HGHH), the Siemens Energy electrolyser is expected to produce around 10,000 tonnes once operational. Hoerbiger’s HCP 500 units will compress the produced hydrogen for refuelling. The Austrian industrial engineering firm said its products can handle high hydrogen flow rates of over 250kg/hour, making them suitable for large-scale plants. Kraftanlagen Energies & Services, which is responsible for the electrolyser planning, delivery, and construction, chose Hoerbiger for its compressor technologies. “With a high degree of standardisation, the HCP 500 is optimised for the lowest cost of total ownership (TCO),” the firm’s statement said. The 105MW [...]

H2-View News: Rockwell Automation to provide digital control for hydrogen-powered vessel
The technologies will control and monitor the vessel’s hybrid energy system, which includes ammonia-to-hydrogen conversion, dual fuel cells, battery storage and renewable inputs. This is expected to ensure real-time optimisation, system safety, and operational autonomy at sea. The French shipbuilder, Energy Observer, will deploy EO3 to test low-carbon energy technologies in real sea conditions. “For nearly a decade, Rockwell Automation has supported Energy Observer’s mission to pioneer sustainable energy solutions at sea,” Rockwell’s Emmanuel Guilhamon said. “EO3 represents the next chapter in our collaboration, combining advanced automation, data management, and human creativity to drive real progress in maritime decarbonisation.” Energy [...]
