H2-View News: RWE reserves 150MW of ITM electrolysers for undisclosed hydrogen project

The UK electrolyser maker said the reservation for 30 of its 5MW Neptune containerised systems foresees call-offs by 2027 – when manufacturing could begin. While it follows the ongoing delivery of 200MW of electrolysers to RWE’s 300MW GetH2 Nukleus project in Lingen, Germany, it remains unclear where the Neptune units could be destined. RWE is currently several green hydrogen projects over 100MW across the UK, Netherlands, and Germany. With supply for the GetH2 Nukleus project already secured, the Neptune units could be earmarked for other large-scale ventures such as the 100MW HyTechHafen project in the German port of Rostock in [...]

H2-View News: Brineworks raises €1.8m to scale electrolyser with built-in DAC

The Dutch start-up was awarded a €1.8m ($2.1m) grant from the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator. SeaX Ventures led the funding round, with participation from Pale Blue Dot, First Momentum, AiiM Partners, Energie360°, and Katapult. Through DAC, the captured CO₂ plus the co-produced hydrogen can be used to produce e-fuels such as sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and e-methanol. The electrolyser system has been designed for intermittent operation, switching on and off with sun and wind power. “With many long nights of work, we’ve proven a clear path to capturing CO₂ directly from air at below $100 per tonne,” explained Dr. [...]

H2-View News: Chungcheongnam commits almost $8bn to five-year hydrogen transition

The South Chungcheong province aims to produce 1.2 million tonnes of hydrogen per year, build 10 hydrogen-mixed power plants totalling 20GW, develop 200 new companies, supply 50,000 cars and install 180 hydrogen refuelling sites. During the 7th Hydrogen Energy International Forum held this week, the province signed agreements with 19 institutions, companies and universities to advance the initiative. Subsidiaries of industrial gas and industry majors, including Linde Korea, Lotte Chemical, Hanwha Impact, Hanwha TotalEnergies, Hyundai Oilbank, and SK Innovation, signed agreements to help build out hydrogen production, power generation, and infrastructure. Alongside local governments, universities, and power generators, H2 View [...]

H2-View News: US clean energy jobs growth in jeopardy from policy changes

The report said the sector added almost 100,000 new jobs, raising the number of workers to 3.56 million. It comes as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act was signed into law on 4 July, revoking clean energy tax credits. Section 45V’s expiry date has been forwarded from 2033 to 2028 – offering two additional years of eligibility compared to the original termination proposal of 31 December 2025. E2 said more than $22bn in clean energy projects had been cancelled since January. “What these numbers show is that this was one of the hottest and most promising job sectors in the [...]

H2-View News: Green methanol and OPS backed as near-term solution for Holyhead–Dublin route

Decarbonising the high-traffic corridor is seen as an early testbed for green shipping corridors, aligning UK and Irish Net Zero goals. In 2024, nearly 1.6 million people travelled the route. The Greening the Irish Sea – Central Corridor report by consultancy Ricardo concluded that green methanol, produced either from bio-methanol or from hydrogen combined with captured CO₂, is the most viable near-term alternative fuel for the route. The fuel can be adopted through retrofits on existing high-frequency roll-on and off cargo and passenger (RoPax) vessels operated by Stena Line and Irish Ferries. Both ports will also require OPS to cut emissions further. [...]

H2-View News: Polytec selects IMI PEM electrolyser for industrial hydrogen trial in Italy

The Polytec Spa subsidiary is aiming to decarbonise local industrial activity while revitalising the Ex-Paisoli brownfield site. Although the production capacity is not specified, the project is intended as a trial. Once operational, green hydrogen will be supplied to industrial sites across the Storo region, specifically the Ex-Paisoli area, for painting and drying processes, and metalworking furnaces. IMI’s 1MW system is set to be powered by a dedicated 4.4MWp photovoltaic system. “The project is running smoothly and on schedule,” according to Polytec Energy’s Mattia Rosa. The Project Manager added, “With the funding obtained and the addition of a direct investment that we chose to add, [...]

H2-View News: Ameresco wins contract to equip Kimberly-Clark with hydrogen dual-fuel boilers

The UK energy solutions provider will act as Engineering Service Provider for the design and construction to help install five new hydrogen/natural gas boilers at the Andrex and Kleenex maker’s Barrow-in-Furness and Northfleet sites. The boilers will be fuelled with volumes of hydrogen produced by Carlton Power’s 35MW Barrow and Hyro’s 15MW Northfleet green hydrogen plants that have been selected for revenue support by the UK government. Under the Hydrogen Allocation Round One, both green hydrogen plants have secured a contracts-for-difference style incentive, guaranteeing them a fixed strike price of £241/MWh. This will top up revenues when the market reference [...]

H2-View News: Namibia opens first integrated green hydrogen production and refuelling site

Dr Elijah Ngurare opened the site in Walvis Bay, developed by Cleanergy Solutions, that features an off-grid solar-powered 5MW electrolyser and refuelling station. Hydrogen produced by the facility is being supplied to various dual-fuel vehicles, including trucks and tractors. From 2026, a train is also expected be run on hydrogen. Beyond the initial use cases, dual-fuel hydrogen vessels are currently being manufactured in the Netherlands by Dutch shipbuilder CMB.Tech for deployment in Walvis Bay port later next year. Supported by the German Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space, the project will also host research and training activities at an on-site [...]

H2-View News: Hy2B secures RFNBO certification for Bavarian green hydrogen plant

The certification from CertifHy confirmed the plant in Bavaria produces green hydrogen with 99.9% fewer carbon dioxide emissions than fossil fuels, in line with EU regulations. Hy2B said the electrolyser features smart energy management developed with BayWa r.e., enabling hydrogen production during times of surplus renewable electricity while also acting as a controllable grid load to support stability. It came ahead of the final scale-up of the Pfeffenhausen facility, which is expected to produce between 400 and 500 tonnes of green hydrogen per year from early 2026. Hy2B said the certification would allow it to supply hydrogen to industrial customers [...]
