H2-View News: Accelera to supply 5MW electrolysers for Tyczka Hydrogen hub in Bavaria

Two HyLyzer 500 units will be installed at the Port of Schweinfurt in Bavaria, using solar and wind power to produce up to 2.2 tonnes of green hydrogen per day. The port has direct access to renewable electricity via the SüdLink DC grid. “By deploying our proven HyLYZER technology at this strategic location in Bavaria, we’re helping to facilitate the development of a regional hydrogen value chain, from production to end-use, and accelerating the transition to zero-emissions transportation and industry,” explained Accelera’s Des McMenamin. Last month, Tyczka broke ground on the refuelling station, part of its planned hydrogen hub, which will [...]

H2-View News: Primetals breaks ground on hydrogen-based DRI plant in Linz

Developed with voestalpine, Rio Tinto, and Mitsubishi Corporation, the Hy4Smelt plant will use Primetals’ Hyfor hydrogen-based fine-ore reduction process and Smelter technology. Specifically, the plant will combine the Hyfor unit with an electric smelter that melts the resulting direct reduced iron (DRI) into hot metal and pig iron, while producing a slag suitable for use as a cement clinker. Scheduled to start up at the end of 2027, the plant will have a three-tonne per hour capacity. The Hyfor plant and Smelter are expected to reach commercial availability from 2028. “The steel industry urgently needs to transition,” explained Dr. Alexander [...]

H2-View News: Longi wins Namibia electrolyser order for ‘landmark’ hydrogen project

However, the Chinese company has not revealed the order’s capacity, customer, or project, only stating that the electrolyser and balance of plant (BoP) will go to a ‘landmark hydrogen project’ in Namibia. For the BoP, Longi is expected to also supply the gas purification, cooling, power supply, and water treatment requirements. It will also help design and implement the equipment on-site. H2 View understands that the green hydrogen produced will be used for multiple end-use sectors, including heavy road transport, rail, off-road machinery, off-grid power generation, and maritime applications. “The solution combines international standards with advanced technologies,” Longi said in [...]

H2-View News: Hy2gen gets zoning approval for 270MW Norwegian green ammonia plant

The Ireson plant will use 270MW of electrolysis, powered by hydropower, to produce 200,000 tonnes of green ammonia per year for maritime offtakers. Capacity could be expanded in later phases. Backed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, the project is expected to be operational by 2029. Hy2Gen said it will now begin technical development before looking to make a final investment decision. Hege Økland, CEO of Iverson eFuels and head of Hy2gen’s Nordic subsidiary, said the zonal approval was a “crucial step forward.” “We look forward to constructive dialogue and close cooperation with the municipality, local businesses, and the community,” she added. [...]

H2-View News: Macquarie looks to divest South Korean hydrogen producer Approtium

According to Korean newspaper Chosun Biz, Macquarie has begun selecting an advisor for the sale, with “multiple potential buyers” already showing interest. Approtium, formerly known as Deokyang, produces around 100,000 tonnes of hydrogen annually, making it one of South Korea’s largest suppliers to the refining, petrochemicals, and semiconductor industries. Most of its production comes from unabated methane reforming, supplemented by byproduct hydrogen from petrochemical processes, with plans to expand clean hydrogen production, as well as ammonia imports. The Ulsan-headquartered firm also operates 60km of hydrogen pipelines, as well as a 250-strong tube trailer fleet. Macquarie bought Deokyang in 2021 for [...]

H2-View News: Pherousa launches two-year pilot for onboard ammonia cracking

The project builds on a 10kW prototype, supplied by major shareholder Metacon. Pherousa plans to scale the system into 250kW containerised units for sea trials, with class societies DNV and ABS already approving the tech in principle. Onboard, the system will crack ammonia into hydrogen to feed Pherousa’s PEM fuel cells, generating electricity to propel the vessel. As part of the initiative, mining giant BHP will link the pilot to the decarbonisation of copper shipments from Chile to China, while shipowner Berge Bulk will provide the host vessel. Ammonia producers Engie and Mejilones Ammonia Energy (MAE) will supply the required [...]

H2-View News: Jolt Green Chemical Industries appoints consultant for electrode plant

Scheduled to begin operations in Q2 2027, the plant is expected to supply more than 750,000 m² of electrodes per year once at full capacity. Catalyst-coated electrodes (CCEs) are core surfaces for electrolysers, fuel cells, and other electrochemical systems. Located at the King Salman Energy Park (SPARK), the facility will feature automation production lines, dedicated R&D laboratories, and utilise wastewater reuse and solar integration. Dyar Al-Safwah Engineering Consultants was appointed to oversee the project development for the joint venture (JV). The JV, established by the Green Electrodes Consortium for Industry and Spain’s Jolt Solutions, was created to drive technology localisation [...]

H2-View News: JSE, KEPCO eye liquid blue hydrogen imports from Woodside’s H2Perth

Under a new memorandum of understanding (MOU), the trio will look to ship liquid blue hydrogen produced at Woodside’s planned project south of Perth to Japanese consumers. The H2Perth project, which has been in the works since 2021, intends to establish both green and blue hydrogen production with a combined initial capacity of 0.84 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) in 2027. Woodside has secured a conditional offtake for some of the plant’s output with Keppel, which plans to use the hydrogen to power its data centres in Singapore. However, with JSE and KEPCO, the oil and gas firm plans to [...]

H2-View News: Cavendish secures €1.3m contract to expand Polish hydrogen station

Under the agreement, the Nel refuelling spin-out will install a new station module and dispenser at the Rybnik site, reportedly making it one of Europe’s largest hydrogen refuelling stations once complete. The facility has already fuelled more than 7,500 vehicles and dispensed over 100,000kg of hydrogen since opening in 2023. PAK-PCE Stacje H2, which operates the site as part of its six-station network, recently added 11 hydrogen-powered buses in Rybnik, with the upgraded site set to accommodate more than 30 in total. Cavendish is expected to complete the upgrade in Rybnik by the end of Q1 2026. The deal also [...]
