H2-View News: FIA Extreme H launches hydrogen-powered World Cup in Saudi Arabia

The competition will take place until October 11 in Qiddiya City, Riyadh, and will see 16 drivers compete in off-road fuel cell-powered vehicles across eight teams. Every team must field one male and one female driver in time trials, head-to-head duels, and multi-car battles, finishing in an eight-car final. Extreme H, formally Extreme E, signed an agreement with the FIA last year to transition the championship into a World Cup format over one weekend. Extreme E ended its 2024 race calendar early as it focused its attention on the 2025 hydrogen-fuelled season. Hoped to underline motorsport’s “vital role” as a [...]

H2-View News: Rely to deliver early engineering studies for Hy2gen and H2V’s French e-SAF project

The John Cockerill and Technip Energies joint venture (JV) will assist with plant definition studies, technical feasibility, and support for permitting for the H4 Marseille Fos project. “Leveraging our engineering expertise and our standardisation approach, we are committed to advancing this landmark project towards the next development stages, and its final investment decision (FID),” explained Rely’s CEO Damien Eyriés. While it’s currently in the pre-front-end engineering and design (FEED) phase, the developers plan to utilise 300MW of electrolysers to produce green hydrogen in the future. Up to 75,000 tonnes of e-SAF will be produced once operational in 2030. A methanol-to-jet [...]

H2-View News: Bekaert halts electrolyser part production in Belgium as hydrogen demand slows

The steel wire transformation and coating technologies firm said it intended to “temporarily” stop making electrolyser components at its Bekintex site in Wetteren, in a move that is expected to have a “direct impact” on 24 jobs. The company makes porous transport layers (PTLs) for PEM and AEM systems which distribute electrical current and fluid across the surface of electrolyser membranes. It’s unclear just how many electrolyser OEMs the company supplies due to the confidentiality surrounding such contracts. However, in 2024, it licensed its Membrane Electrode Assembly technology to Toshiba. “With a low market demand in the short-term and an [...]

H2-View News: Plug Power raises $370m through warrant deal to bolster liquidity

Under the deal, the investor exercises warrants issued in March 2025 to buy 185 million shares at $2 each. In return, the investor received new warrants to purchase the same number of shares later at $7.75 – almost double the company’s current share price. The structure gives Plug a near-term cash injection to support operations and improve liquidity. The US green hydrogen firm also highlighted the potential to raise a further $1.4bn if new warrants are exercised in the future. “No assurance can be given that any of the new warrants will be exercised,” the company said in its statement. [...]

H2-View News: Air Liquide to expand US Gulf Coast hydrogen distribution after new refinery deals

The French industrial gas major said it would upgrade its pipeline system and install new compression and distribution equipment after inking new hydrogen supply agreements with two unnamed US refiners. The firm has not disclosed the contracted volumes or production method. However, it is likely its existing grey hydrogen production capacity in the region will be used. Air Liquide currently operates almost 2,000 miles of industrial gas pipelines in the region, supplying oxygen, nitrogen and hydrogen to customers in Texas and Louisiana. The network also connects to its hydrogen salt cavern storage facility in Texas, which has capacity for over [...]

H2-View News: Uniper submits planning application for 120MW UK green hydrogen plant

The German energy major said the application for its Humber H2ub project submitted to North Lincolnshire Council included an Environmental Impact Assessment, and followed its own public consultation programme. It is due to be built at Uniper’s existing Killingholme site and supply hydrogen to Phillips 66’s Humber Refinery to replace fuel gas in heaters. Uniper selected ITM Power’s electrolysers for the project. During the planning process, public comments will be able to be submitted, with the Council due to undertake its own consultation. The project was shortlisted by the UK government for funding under the second Hydrogen Allocation Round (HAR2), [...]

H2-View News: ABB to power SwitcH2’s floating green ammonia production vessel

Under a term sheet agreement, the Swiss-Swedish multinational technology company will engineer and supply automation and electrification solutions for the vessel. Specifically, ABB will provide the systems that generate, distribute, and manage electrical power on the vessel, including its prefabricated eHouse housing switchgear, transformers, and control panels. The company will also supply its ABB Ability System 800xA Integrated Control and Safety System (ICSS) to automate and monitor key processes, from electrolysis and ammonia synthesis to storage. “By integrating ABB’s advanced electrification and automation systems, we are demonstrating how technology-driven partnerships can accelerate innovation, shaping the future of energy at sea,” [...]

H2-View News: Sunfire awarded FEED contract for P2X’s 40MW hydrogen-based methanol plant

The German OEM will carry out a front-end engineering design (FEED) study for the project in Joensuu, Finland, which could see its pressurised alkaline electrolysers installed. The electrolysis plant would supply hydrogen for e-methanol production, which could be used for shipping and aviation applications. It follows the launch of P2X Solutions’ first plant – a 20MW e-methane project in Harjavalta – which is equipped with Sunfire’s technology. P2X Solutions CEO Herkko Plit, said the FEED contract was an “important milestone” towards taking final investment decision (FID) on the Joensuu plant, which would triple the company’s green hydrogen production. The project [...]

H2-View News: Bosch deploys hydrogen fuel cell truck in German logistics operations

Leased through Hylane, the hydrogen-powered truck will be used to transport products between Schäflein’s Nuremberg facility and a nearby service provider. Overall, the truck is expected to cover 12,000km per year. When Schäflein set out to cut emissions from its in-plant logistics operations, it selected Bosch’s fuel cell system as the centrepiece of its decarbonisation plans, according to the Commercial Plant Manager. “This deployment is an important building block that helps us reduce our emissions in logistics,” explained Alexander Weichsel. “The fact that several thousand trucks with Bosch fuel-cell systems are already on the road worldwide shows that the concept [...]

H2-View News: US DOE set to cancel all remaining hydrogen hub grants: reports

The US Department of Energy (DOE) is planning to cancel grants for all five of the remaining federally backed hydrogen hubs, according to various reports. Politico reports a list circulating among Capitol Hill staff marks over 600 clean energy grants for more than $20bn as “terminate,” adding to the more than 321 awards cancelled earlier this month. These would include the remaining five clean regional hydrogen hubs funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, originally intended to bolster hydrogen production and use across the US. This is a paid article, to read the article in full you can sign in if [...]
