H2-View News: HIF Global relocates Tasmanian hydrogen-based methanol plans to former paper mill
The Chilean-founded e-fuels developer has shifted plans for HIF Tasmania following engineering and site reviews. The former Pulp Mill site reportedly offers construction cost savings, port access for trade, and local resources such as recycled wastewater. “The move will bring new life to one of the region’s most significant industrial sites, returning long-term employment to the community while supporting Tasmania’s ambition to be a leader in renewable energy,” the company explained. Announced in 2022, the project is expected to produce over 200,000 tonnes of e-methanol per year once operational, supported by 280MW of electrolyser capacity. HIF plans to submit its [...]
H2-View News: Chile approves $423m green hydrogen project in Calama mining district
Chilean clean energy developer Susterra will begin with a 20MW electrolyser in Antofagasta’s mining district, a $68m first phase set to scale to 100MW and eventually 200MW. Initially, the plant will produce nine tonnes of green hydrogen per day, before reaching 45 tonnes and 90 tonnes per day, respectively, bringing the total project cost to $423m. The hydrogen produced will be supplied to the local mining industry via tube trailers in a bid to decarbonise operations. The green hydrogen will substitute diesel in mining processes that are hard to electrify, such as ore haulage, refining, smelting and transport. Renewable energy [...]
H2-View News: Provaris, Baker Hughes sign deal to advance compressed hydrogen systems
The deal, which replaces a 2024 MoU, will see Baker Hughes provide compression technology, engineering services, and cost-modelling support for Provaris’ planned 450–2,000-tonne high-pressure tanks for carrier vessels and barges. Chief Technology Officer, Per Roed, said, “This collaboration strengthens our ability to deliver scalable, efficient hydrogen transport and storage solutions.” Provaris is developing a 450-tonne system based on a standard MR tanker to store hydrogen at 250 bar, a 2,000-tonne capacity system, and a 300–600-tonne storage barge. It argues high-pressure hydrogen systems will beat ammonia for hydrogen transportation on price and capital. According to its own Concept Design Study, Provaris [...]
H2-View News: India’s Acme signs preliminary deal to supply green ammonia to Japan
However, the Indian renewables firm has not disclosed the volume of green ammonia to be supplied to Japan. “By supplying green ammonia, India is poised to become a global hub for green energy production,” Acme stated on LinkedIn. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed during the Indian Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi’s visit to Japan. “This partnership aligns with [Acme’s] vision for a decarbonised world but also reinforces India’s commitment to its climate goals,” the company added. The deal follows Acme’s successful bids in India’s green ammonia auction series, which recently concluded. Acme Cleantech won three contracts to supply the [...]
H2-View News: Scotland and AquaVentus partner on North Sea hydrogen pipeline plans
Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the two organisations plan to combine Scotland’s offshore wind with AquaVentus’ offshore electrolysis expertise, linking export and import goals across the North Sea. The AquaDuctus pipeline is a planned offshore hydrogen link designed to carry green hydrogen through the North Sea, using a pipes and wires hybrid approach. The German consortium plans 10GW of offshore electrolysers in the North Sea, producing around one million tonnes of green hydrogen. The pipeline design allows offshore wind farms to deliver electricity when the grid needs it, or convert power into hydrogen via electrolysis and transport it through [...]
H2-View News: Charbone secures used hydrogen equipment to start flagship production in Q4
The Canadian firm has signed an asset purchase agreement to acquire the equipment already used by Quebec-based energy and fuels company Harnois Énergies. While precise details on the equipment in question remain unrevealed, Harnois has been producing and dispensing hydrogen at its Quebec City multi-energy station since 2019, featuring a Cummins Hystat alkaline electrolyser. Harnois had also partnered with Alstom and HTEC to supply hydrogen from the station to fuel North America’s first green hydrogen-powered train in 2023. Charbone said it will “repurpose” the equipment to “fast-track” the commissioning of the first phase of its flagship Sorel-Tracy green hydrogen plant [...]
H2-View News: Namibian hydrogen village produces green fertilisers for domestic use
The Erongo proof-of-concept facility targets an annual output of 18 tonnes of green hydrogen and 100 tonnes of green ammonia. The latter is used to produce fertiliser for over 400 tonnes of greenhouse-grown vegetables annually. Namibia and Sub-Saharan Africa face fertiliser shortages and high import costs, with farmers applying only about 15% of the fertiliser needed for healthy yields. The initiative aims to replace costly imports with affordable, locally produced green fertilisers. Backed by the Namibian and German governments, the “Net Zero village” splits borehole water with an electrolyser powered by local renewable power. A solar photovoltaic field has already [...]

H2-View News: CPH2 raises £7.4m to commercialise membrane-less hydrogen tech
The company, which is developing membrane-less electrolysers, will issue almost 148 million new shares – growing its share base by nearly 40% – in a bid to secure funding for its wider ambitions. Despite the heavy dilution, demand was strong. Through an accelerated bookbuild, CPH2 will net around £7m ($9.4m) through the placement of over 140 million new shares at £0.05 ($0.067). A further £0.4m ($0.54m) will be raised through an oversubscribed retail offer. The new funds give CPH2 the runway to move from pilot testing into full commercial deployment. Earlier this year, CEO Jon Duffy told H2 View CPH2 [...]
H2-View News: Plug Power delivers record output at Georgia green hydrogen plant
The Woodbine plant ran at 97% uptime, 99.7% availability (excluding a grid outage) and 92.8% efficiency, the green hydrogen company reported. The Georgia plant uses its 5MW GenEco electrolysers, which are part of its modular PEM line. Plug said the production record proves the systems can “deliver high-performance backed by real-world results.” The company touted the site as the largest operating green hydrogen plant in the US and claimed market leadership by citing additional facilities in Tennessee and Louisiana, although neither is yet at full capacity. “Our Georgia plant is running with greater consistency and strength every day,” stated Andy [...]
