H2-View News: HydrogenPro takes full control of Tianjin electrolyser plant
The Norwegian company originally attained 75% of the facility in 2021 and has since upgraded the site to a 500MW-per-year electrolyser plant. Tianjin has supplied equipment for two of the world’s largest green hydrogen projects, according to HydrogenPro. The firm designs and supplies high-pressure alkaline electrolyser at the plant. The final 25% stake was purchased for CNY 3m ($400,000) in cash plus equipment worth CNY 1.8m ($250,000). “This transaction is in line with HydrogenPro’s strategy of streamlining operations. We are pleased to secure full ownership of the plant, which is a very cost-efficient set-up with capacity to deliver on large [...]
H2-View News: Spain allocates €126m to unfunded EU hydrogen projects
Through the government’s Auctions-as-a-Service (AaaS) mechanism, project Orange.Bat in Castellon was awarded €82.5m ($91m) for its 100MW electrolyser project, while eM Numancia will receive €43.9m ($48m) for its 60MW hydrogen production and e-methanol plant. Led by Switzerland’s Smartenergy, the Orange.Bat initiative is expected to produce 12,000 tonnes per year of hydrogen for use in the ceramics industry. Meanwhile, the 33,000 tonnes of e-methanol by Elyse Energy in Garray, Soria, is set to be used in the chemicals, timber, logistics, and marine sectors. Issued under the AaaS programme, funding will support hydrogen production opex for 10 years. The service allows the [...]
H2-View News: European Energy ramps up hydrogen and e-methanol production
European Energy produced 2,512 tonnes of e-methanol and 35 tonnes of green hydrogen in the first nine months of 2025, as it accelerates battery storage deployment to counter curtailment and improve power price capture. The green hydrogen was produced at its production plant in Måde, Denmark, while the company delivered e-methanol from its recently opened Kassø facility, which is now ramping up towards its full 42,000-tonne annual capacity. At World Hydrogen Week, European Energy unveiled its new electric steam methane reforming (e-SMR) technology, designed to cut the cost of producing green hydrogen and e-methanol and widen access to low-carbon fuel [...]
H2-View News: FCAB begins testing Latin America’s first hydrogen freight locomotive
Latin America’s “first” hydrogen-powered freight locomotive, according to FCAB, will run in Antofagasta and is expected to support the region’s decarbonisation strategy by lowering scope one and two emissions by 50% by 2035. The locomotive reportedly delivers 1,000kW of power via its hybrid engine, while reducing total weight by around 30 tonnes compared to conventional diesel models. FCAB also built its own hydrogen refuelling station at its Patio Norte railway yard for the test operations. Data from the pilot will help regulators and industry partners assess whether hydrogen traction can scale across Chile’s mining and logistics sector – the former [...]
H2-View News: Metacon secures €2.1m advance for 7.5MW Romanian electrolyser project
The remaining €5m ($5.79m) is due under the €7.1m ($8.22m) contract and is expected to be paid in subsequent project milestones, which in similar projects typically include manufacturing progress, shipment, commissioning and testing. Chinese electrolyser OEM Peric Hydrogen Technology will provide the electrolyser technology, while Metacon will deliver the packaged system, auxiliary equipment, and manage delivery to Elektra. No start-up date has been set for the project, but it is unlikely to be Romania’s first green hydrogen plant. A 2.5MW facility in Cluj-Napoca, announced last February, aims to produce one tonne of hydrogen per day and is slated for late [...]
H2-View News: Paysandú site cleared for HIF Global’s hydrogen-based e-fuels facility
While the $5.3bn initiative hasn’t been fully approved, the Ministry of Environment confirmed that the site is environmentally acceptable. HIF will move into the full environmental permitting stage. This will include an Environmental Prior Authorisation (AAP) to proceed with the project, and an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), which includes a detailed study covering air, water, ecosystems, noise, waste, land use, and social and cultural impacts. The government classified the Paysandú plans as “high complexity,” meaning HIF must undergo the most rigorous form of review involving multiple agencies. Nevertheless, CEO Martin Bremermann called the approval a “key milestone in the environmental [...]
H2-View News: BZI becomes lead investor in 200MW green hydrogen project in Malaysia
BZI has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Nova Re Suria (NRES), a Malaysian energy and project developer, for an undisclosed investment amount. Located in Paka, the plant will feature 200MW of alkaline electrolyser capacity, powered by grid-supplied renewable energy, and is expected to produce almost 30,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year at full capacity. China Jiangsu Guofu Hydrogen Energy (GUOFUHEE)) will support the promotion and global distribution of green hydrogen and its derivatives. PGH2P’s project partners aim to supply both domestic industrial users and international buyers. Additionally, China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) has been appointed for the engineering, [...]
H2-View News: Stegra secures €37m grant but funding gap remains for green steel plant
Awarded via the Swedish Energy Agency’s Industrial Leap programme, the authority said the support would increase the green steel startup’s chances of securing additional capital. The latest award brings Stegra’s total Swedish grants to around €137m ($150m) – less than the €265m ($292m) package previously approved by the European Commission. The Swedish Energy Agency added that further support is conditional on Stegra demonstrating full project financing by spring 2026. Stegra has secured €6.5bn ($7.15bn) in loans and equity for the plant and recently launched a €975m ($1.07bn) financing round to cover rising costs and replace state aid that has yet [...]
H2-View News: Kawasaki breaks ground on Japan’s first large-scale liquid hydrogen terminal
The Kawasaki LH2 Terminal in Ogishima will be equipped with a 50,000m3 liquid hydrogen storage tank, which the pair claim will be the “world’s largest”, along with maritime cargo handling, liquefaction, and lorry dispatch facilities. © KHI It is planned as an import and bunkering site for liquid hydrogen from 2030 onwards to import hydrogen into Japan for onward distribution to domestic consumers. JSE, which is owned by KHI, Iwatani Corporation, and other Japanese investors, will manage the project, while a KHI joint venture will be the main design and construction contractor. In addition to the terminal, the duo plan [...]
H2-View News: Hyundai hydrogen trucks to start timber logistics work in Uruguay
The Xcient fuel cell truck fleet was sent from the Port of Gunsan in South Korea yesterday. Once in Montevideo, they will operate in the Kahirós project, which will provide green hydrogen fuel for local trucks. Hyundai fuel cell truck distributor Fidocar is part of the consortium establishing the initiative, which includes the development of a 2MW green hydrogen plant in 2026. Being used to transport timber, each of Hyundai’s vehicles can travel more than 720km on 31kg of hydrogen storage. The automotive major said this was enough “to complete a full timber transport cycle on a single charge.” Hyundai’s [...]
