H2-View News: Moeve, Galp explore downstream tie-up spanning refining, hydrogen, fuel retail
The pair have reached a non-binding agreement to advance discussions on setting up joint platforms focused on refining, chemicals, trading, green molecules, low-carbon fuels, and mobility fuel. If approved, it would see two new platforms established: a mobility segment focused on fuel retail, convenience, and mobility services; and an industrial arm for refining, trading, chemicals, and low-carbon fuels, including biofuels and hydrogen. The companies expect to reach an agreement by mid-2026. “We have the opportunity to create major European players in Iberia,” said Galp Chair Paula Amorim. “This opportunity reinforces our ability to support and promote a just energy transition.” [...]
H2-View News: Samskip tees up green hydrogen supply for Dutch-Norwegian vessels
The company named Norwegian Hydrogen the preferred hydrogen supplier for its two SeaShuttle vessels that are set to begin operating between the Netherlands and Norway in 2027. Under a memorandum of understanding inked in December, Norwegian Hydrogen will deliver fuel for the vessels from its 25MW Rjukan liquid green hydrogen, which reached final investment decision last April. Samskip’s two 135m, 500-TEU SeaShuttle vessels will feature a hydrogen propulsion system combining a cryogenic storage unit for liquid green hydrogen with 3.2MW of fuel cells. The SeaShuttles plan to operate on Samskip’s route between Rotterdam and Oslo by Q2 2027. With Rjukan [...]
H2-View News: Vinssen launches South Korea’s ‘first’ hydrogen fuel cell ship
The aluminium leisure vessel, measuring 17.4m weighs 32 tonnes, has a top speed of 20 knots, powered by two 100kW fuel cells and four 92kW lithium-ion batteries. This hydrogen fuel-cell and battery-based propulsion system, designed for use in small vessels up to large passenger and merchant ships, has obtained certification from the Korea Maritime Safety Authority and the Korean Register. The South Korea-based company held a launch ceremony for the ship at its headquarters in Yeongam, Jeollanam-do, having started construction in October 2024. Vinssen says the vessel operates quietly without emitting nitrogen oxides, fine dust or carbon dioxide. The firm’s [...]
H2-View News: Tasmania hydrogen project lines up Chinese electrolysers and refuelling gear
The Chinese hydrogen technology firm said it signed a pre-purchase agreement to supply electrolysers, filling stations, multi-unit gas containers, as well as EPC services to Australia’s Line Hydrogen, which is 14% owned by Guofuhee. The kit will be installed at Line’s project near Bell Bay in Tasmania, which plans to initially produce 1.69 tonnes of green hydrogen per day to supply mobility applications. Originally planned for commissioning in late 2025, the project is yet to break ground, but is expected to scale up to produce almost 15 tonnes of hydrogen daily. The project will be collocated with the 4.95MW Bell [...]
H2-View News: Hydrogen Utopia eyes MENA waste-to-hydrogen opportunities with local integrator
HUI signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Saudi systems integrator Hydrogen Systems to establish a non-binding framework for collaboration. HUI says the partnership with Hydrogen Systems will strengthen local execution capability, reduce delivery risk, and lay the groundwork for engagement with the Saudi Investment Recycling Company, supporting the deployment of HUI facilities across Saudi Arabia. It could see the UK-based developer act as the operator of plasma-enhanced melter technology from US-based InEnTec in the MENA region, after the pair signed an exclusive license agreement. InEnTec says its combustion-free technology converts difficult-to-treat waste into hydrogen-rich syngas using a combination of [...]
H2-View News: Japan produces ammonia at blue hydrogen pilot using electride catalyst
Tsubame BHB said its small-scale synthesis unit, using a proprietary electride catalyst, produced ammonia at Inpex Corporation’s blue hydrogen demonstration plant in Kashiwazaki. The complex came online last November, producing blue hydrogen using Japanese natural gas, with captured carbon dioxide stored in the depleted Hirai gas field. Some of the hydrogen produced by the facility has been supplied to Tsubame’s 500-tonne per year ammonia unit, which uses electrides – where electrons act as negative ions – from “inexpensive cement materials.” The electride catalyst breaks the bonds of nitrogen molecules to allow hydrogen to be synthesised with it into ammonia. The [...]
H2-View News: OMV secures €123m in Austrian funding for 140MW green hydrogen plant
The company signed a funding agreement with Austria’s state-owned promotional bank to secure the funds from the nation’s green hydrogen project subsidy auction. The project in Bruck an der Leitha will install 140MW of Siemens Energy PEM electrolysers to produce up to 23,000 tonnes of green hydrogen that will displace grey hydrogen used in OMV’s Schwechat refinery. Last November, UAE renewables major Masdar acquired a 49% stake in the project, with plans to form a joint venture with OMV to build out the plant. The joint venture is expected to be concluded in the coming months. Scheduled to go into [...]
H2-View News: Germany’s post-FID green hydrogen capacity nears 1GW, but early-stage projects wane
Green hydrogen projects past the final investment decision (FID) stage in Germany increased to almost 1GW between Q2 2024 and Q4 2025, making it Western Europe’s biggest market, according to new ICIS research. The commodity intelligence firm’s analysis of German green hydrogen supply found projects that have progressed beyond FID had a combined capacity of 933MW in Q4 2025, up from 187MW in Q2 2024. H2-View News: India builds its first hydrogen-powered train
Indian Railways, along with the Research Designs and Standards Organization, has completed preparations for the train’s maiden journey between Jind and Sonipat. According to local reports, the train will travel up to 180km using 369kg of hydrogen at a speed of up to 110km per hour. The Indian government has hailed the hydrogen-powered train as the world’s longest, with ten coaches, and the most powerful, with two driving power cars producing 2.4MW from hydrogen fuel cells combined. The train will be refuelled using green hydrogen produced by a 1MW PEM electrolyser facility in Jind, which is currently in its final [...]
H2-View News: US-backed $2.6m coal-based low-carbon ammonia plant enters construction
South Korea EPC firm Samsung E&A announced the 500,000-tonne plant for Wabash Valley Resources could come online in 2029 at the site of an idled coal gasification facility. The project was recently backed by the US Department of Energy with a $1.5bn loan in a move to reduce ammonia fertiliser imports. The plant will use a local mine as a feedstock, reacting coal with oxygen and steam to produce syngas – a combination of hydrogen and carbon monoxide. Syngas will be put through a water-gas shift reaction to increase hydrogen yield while generating carbon dioxide. Samsung E&A said it would [...]
