H2-View News: MB Energy opens German hydrogen refuelling station

Situated in Lübeck at an existing MB Energy diesel refuelling station near the A1 and A20 motorways, the station could fuel 50 trucks per-day. Delivered by German project developer Hypion, it comes as MB Energy’s third station in Europe. The Lübeck site will operate as part of the Tankpool24 truck refuelling network, comprised of over 2,000 stations – covering diesel, LNG, and hydrogen – across Europe including more than 750 in Germany. MB Energy has not identified the exact source of hydrogen for the station. The Lübeck station was supported by a €5.1m ($5.5m) grant awarded under the German Government’s [...]

H2-View News: German partners eye offtake from 4.4GW Saudi green hydrogen plant

A newly inked memorandum of understanding (MOU) could see Acwa supply green ammonia from its Yanbu project to EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg (ENBW), with VNG supporting European imports. Under the plans, ammonia would be cracked into hydrogen at Germany’s Port of Rostock by VNG before being distributed through the country’s 9,000km hydrogen core network. In a statement, the company said it is “evaluating the potential for its participation in the co-development and possible co-investment in ammonia infrastructure in Germany.” The Yanbu green hydrogen project, planned for commercial operation in 2030, will combine 10GW of wind and solar power, and 4.4GW of [...]

H2-View News: US hydrogen firm Plug urges shareholders to back share issuance changes

It comes as the company looks to build up cash reserves as it continues to burn cash. In a blog post addressed to investors, outgoing CEO Andy Marsh framed the vote as a necessary step to keep the company operating smoothly, arguing the firm’s proposed amendments are being blocked by low voter participation. Plug has offered two proposals that would give it significantly more power in raising capital through equity issuance. The first would amend its corporate charter to “modernise” its voting standards. Under current rules, certain charter amendments require approval from a majority of all outstanding shares, meaning shares [...]

H2-View News: First 32km stretch of Dutch hydrogen network filled with green hydrogen

Laid in the Port of Rotterdam by Dutch state-owned Gasunie, the first section was filled with green hydrogen supplied by Plug Power from a production site in northern Germany. “It was quite a challenging process,” Dutch hydrogen network manager Niels van Pagee said. “Within a short time span and under a tight deadline, dozens of trailers carrying containers full of green hydrogen had to make their way from northern Germany to the Maasvlakte industrial area near Rotterdam, where we had set up a temporary filling site.” It marks the completion of the firm segment of the planned 1,200km nationwide network, [...]

H2-View News: Construction costs overshadow CBAM risk for Air Products’ Louisiana hydrogen plans

Air Products is more concerned about rising construction costs than uncertainty around Europe’s carbon border levy as it moves toward a final decision on the fate of its Louisiana blue hydrogen project later this year. CEO Eduardo Menezes told the firm’s Q1 investor call that it had a “high bar” for taking final investment decision (FID) on the 1,700-tonne project, which has had its future under question since last May. H2-View News: Liquid hydrogen station launched at South Korean airport

Installed in a car park at Incheon airport near Seoul by SK Innovation subsidiary Hyverse, the station has the capacity to dispense 320kg of hydrogen per hour, which could support up to 240 buses per day. Liquid hydrogen is being supplied to the station by SK’s 30,000-tonne-per-year plant in Seo-Gu, Incheon, which came online in 2024. 36 of the airport’s 68 shuttle buses are currently hydrogen-powered, with further deployments planned this year. The Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Incheon City, and Hyverse, a subsidiary of SK Innovation, provided funding for the project. Buses have emerged as a dominant [...]

H2-View News: Electrolyser oxygen presents challenges, but use cases emerging, says Linde

Oxygen generated from water electrolysis for hydrogen production is unlikely to replace conventional air separation but could see wider industrial use over the next five to 10 years. That is according to Oliver Neuhaus, Head of ASU Business Development Support and Conceptual Engineering EMEA at Linde, who spoke at the European Industrial Gases Association Winter Summit. Electrolysis of water for green hydrogen production generates roughly eight tonnes of oxygen as a byproduct for every tonne of hydrogen produced. This has prompted growing interest in whether electrolyser oxygen, often referred to as ELY-O2, could represent a new potential oxygen stream alongside [...]

H2-View News: Australian miner sells copper mine to fund natural hydrogen activities

Thor said the sale of its majority stake in the Molyhill tungsten, molybdenum, and copper mine in the Northern Territory would provide a  “significant” boost to advancing its Hy-Range natural hydrogen project. The firm will receive three payments totalling A$6.6m (€3.9m) by late 2028, for the sale, with co-owners of Molyhill, Investigator Resources, will receive a total A$2.2m (€1.3m) across the payments. It will finance Thor’s ongoing feasibility studies and potential exploration drilling at its South Australia natural hydrogen project, Hy-Range. In February 2025, Thor acquired 80.2% of Victoria-based Go Exploration, including the same portion of the Hy-Range project, as [...]

H2-View News: Hydrogen pipeline feasibility study launched for UK southwest

The utility’s HyLine South West study follows two similar assessments for similar pipelines in Wales and aims to strengthen its understanding of the role hydrogen could play in the southwest of England. Under current plans, WWU foresees the pipeline connecting speculative production hubs in the sea and some of the UK’s government-backed green hydrogen projects in the region, with “high-emission industrial users.” It will also look at using underground rock caverns for hydrogen storage. Funded by UK energy regulator Ofgem, the study will deliver technical, environmental, and economic assessments. WWU Net Zero Project Manager for the South West, James Adam, [...]

H2-View News: Germany launches €220m funding call for hydrogen trucks and station

The pilot roll-out aims to build up the use of hydrogen trucks and keep up with the EU’s Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR), which mandates hydrogen refuelling stations be installed in all “urban nodes” and every 200km along core networks by 2030. The BMV claims the funding will support the construction of up to 40 refuelling stations and help put up to 400 hydrogen trucks on the road. Refuelling stations must be built to AFIR requirements of being able to fuel both heavy and light-duty vehicles, while stations will be able to be subsidised by up to 50%. Additionally, the [...]
