H2-View News: Cummins to undertake ‘strategic review’ of electrolyser business

While sales in Accelera rose 10% year-on-year to $121m, the division posted an EBITDA loss of $336m. The $240m non-cash charge, equal to $1.73 per diluted share, contributed to a fall in company-wide net income to $536m, down from $809m in 2024. The American engine manufacturer said the Accelera non-cash charges reflected “policy-driven shifts in hydrogen adoption expectations.” It added in its Q3 2025 earnings statement, “Due to the significantly weaker prospects for demand, we are undertaking a strategic review of the electrolyser business.” Chair and CEO Jennifer Rumsey said that while “uncertainty in a number of our end markets persists,” the quarter’s results [...]

H2-View News: Transition Industries signs long-term offtake deal for low-carbon methanol plant

Under the offtake agreement, the Japanese multinational will be supplied with around one million tonnes of green and blue methanol per year from Mexico, which Transition described as “ultra-low carbon.” MGC Chemical Division Director, Masahiko Naito, said the agreement will strengthen the company’s Carbopath initiative, which “drives carbon circularity across multiple industries.” Naito added, “By ensuring a stable supply of ultra-low carbon methanol, we will contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supporting the transition toward a more sustainable society in Japan and in the broader Asia-Pacific region.” The agreement will become effective upon the project’s final investment decision (FID). [...]

H2-View News: Samsung E&A unveils PEM version of 100MW hydrogen plant, built on Nel stacks

Like its alkaline alternative, the CompassH2-P combines Nel’s stack technology with a Samsung E&A system-level design to produce 30-bar hydrogen. The South Korean EPC firm said the plant design would be optimised for handling renewable energy load fluctuations and could ease project development. The alkaline CompassH2-A was launched in May, claiming to offer the “world’s most efficient” alkaline solution. No details on either plant’s capex or system-level performance have been disclosed. Both systems come after Samsung E&A became Nel’s largest corporate shareholder and EPC partner to sell complete plants based on the Norwegian OEM’s technology. Samsung E&A President and CEO [...]

H2-View News: Explosion causes ammonia leak at CF Industries Mississippi plant

Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves confirmed the incident in a post on X. “Initial reports indicate the leak is due to an explosion. At this time, no deaths or injuries have been reported,” he said. The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality last night said air monitoring operations are underway and will continue as long as necessary to ensure public safety. Anhydrous ammonia is primarily used to produce fertilisers and provides the highest nitrogen content of any fertiliser type. The CF Industries Yazoo City complex has an annual ammonia production capacity of about 570,000 tonnes, with 48,000 tonnes of storage. It remains [...]

H2-View News: ZeroAvia awarded €21.4m through EU Innovation Fund

Funding was financed through revenues from the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS), the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA). The latest round awarded grants to 61 Net Zero projects across 19 sectors and 18 countries. ZeroAvia was one of 13 hydrogen-related projects selected for a share of €2.9bn ($3.1bn). The ODIN initiative will validate the technical performance and economic case for hydrogen-powered commercial aviation operations. Once ZeroAvia’s ZA600 fuel cell powertrains are integrated into the aircraft, operations are set to begin in 2028. Additionally, the UK-based aviator plans to deliver hydrogen refuelling and storage infrastructure at 15 airports in Norway to [...]

H2-View News: IFF launches fragrance industry’s first integrated clean hydrogen facility in Spain

The facility traditionally uses grey hydrogen for its manufacturing processes. However, the hydrogen production plant, which was built in collaboration with Iberdrola, will produce up to 100 tonnes of clean hydrogen per year to replace these volumes. Powered by solar panels and on-site electrolysis, IFF’s Benicarló clean hydrogen facility produces, compresses, and stores clean hydrogen for use in hydrogenation reactions. The process supports the creation of more than 50 key IFF ingredients, including Cashmeran and Kharismal. IFF added that clean hydrogen reduces CO2 emissions by 2,000 tonnes annually, helping the firm move towards its climate goals, which include cutting emissions [...]

H2-View News: Lhyfe inks 15-month deal to supply 90 tonnes of green hydrogen

Over a 15-month contract, the French hydrogen producer will supply the energy carrier from its recently launched Schwäbisch Gmünd facility, which is certified under EU renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBO) rules. The unnamed service station operator is expected to use green hydrogen to “fuel a fleet of several dozen buses.” “After the inauguration of our first commercial production site, this announcement once again highlights the position Lhyfe has held for several years as a driving force in the development of a local and sustainable industry,” stated Matthieu Guesné, Lhyfe founder and CEO. “More broadly, this contract mainly confirms Germany’s [...]

H2-View News: Plug begins 5MW electrolyser installation at Dutch green hydrogen project

The system is being built at the H2 Hollandia project in Nieuw-Buinen, where it will be powered by the existing 115MW Vloeivelden Hollandia solar park to half the site’s curtailment. Developed by renewable developer Novar and contractor Avitec, the project broke ground in September and is due online in 2026. Once operational, it is expected to produce 300,000kg of green hydrogen per year, with plans to supply mobility and industrial use cases in the region. The partners claim it will be the first operational electrolyser hydrogen hub in the Netherlands, producing entirely green hydrogen. “By directly integrating Plug’s system with [...]

H2-View News: HYDS takes FID on two 20MW Norwegian green hydrogen projects

The HyFuel and Kaupanes projects in Norway will both use 20MW containerised PEM electrolysers from Nel, representing a $50m order. Electrolysers will start arriving at the sites from the second half of 2026, with stacks coming from Nel’s PEM factory in Connecticut, US. HYDS is co-developing each project, with hydroelectric firm Sogn and Fjordane Energy and maritime fuel supplier Fjord Base working on HyFuel; while electric supplier Dalane Energi and port authority Eigersund Næring og Havn KF will support the Kaupanes project. HyFuel is set to build up production capacity at Fjord Base to provide green hydrogen fuel for maritime [...]

H2-View News: Can COP30 deliver anything for clean hydrogen?

In a year that’s seen climate ambitions strained and hydrogen’s role in them come under bigger questions than before, COP30 could be a reckoning. COP30 will take place in Belém, Brazil, from 10–21 November, and marks the deadline for countries to submit updated national climate plans (NDCs) under the 2015 Paris Agreement. However, the conference takes place against a darkening climate backdrop. This is a paid article, to read the article in full you can sign in if you are subscribed or subscribe today.
