H2-View News: Data centre pivots from pure hydrogen to fuel-agnostic platform
The US-based data centre solutions company launched its new system, dubbed Flexgrid, which integrates a range of energy sources, including hydrogen, natural gas, diesel, renewables, and grid power. Flexgrid will power systems starting at 2MW, with the possibility of scaling up to 25MW with additional power sources. This aims to enable data centres to accelerate AI installations where grid and hydrogen are not readily available. Yuval Bachar, CEO of ECL, said moving towards the “power-agnostic” system reflects current market conditions. “You should be able to plug in hydrogen where it’s abundant, natural gas where it’s ubiquitous, renewables where they are [...]
H2-View News: Yara doubts CBAM suspension as delays threaten US blue ammonia plans
Fertiliser major Yara doubts the EU will suspend its new carbon border tax on imports, but warns political delays could complicate its plans to back a major US blue hydrogen ammonia project. Speaking during the firm’s earnings call, CFO Magnus Ankarstrand said it was “highly questionable” whether any changes would be made to the EU’s carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM). H2-View News: StormFisher to supply e-fuel for transatlantic shipping book-and-claim scheme
Under the partnership with Dutch-based CarbonLeap, StormFisher will supply e-methanol produced by its recently acquired project in Quebec to selected shipping companies for certain voyages. CarbonLeap will pool demand from cargo owners seeking to cut Scope 3 emissions, using that aggregated demand to finance the e-fuel premium and allocate the verified reductions through a book-and-claim system. The model allows cargo owners to support low-carbon fuel uptake without requiring their goods to be carried on a specific green-fuelled vessel. The e-methanol produced by StormFisher’s project is expected to comply with the EU’s renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBO) rules, delivering lifecycle [...]
H2-View News: Green hydrogen ‘growing strongly’ from small base: IEA
The sector is on track to grow from less than 1% of total production today to around 4% in 2030, which the IEA says is “strong” for a nascent sector. “If achieved, this would make growth in low-emissions hydrogen production comparable to the fast expansions of other clean energy technologies seen in recent years,” it states. Realising projects will depend on policy action to address key barriers, particularly support for closing the cost gap with hydrogen from unabated fossil fuels and measures to stimulate demand in sectors where hydrogen is already used, such as refining and the chemical industry. China, [...]
H2-View News: CTF Solar to manufacture US-developer solar-to-hydrogen tech
The technology and manufacturing services agreement will see the pair produce 1,000 units of the system, which produces hydrogen from sunlight and water. Building on a November 2025 memorandum of understanding and prior collaboration agreements, the agreement will use pilot data and process learnings from US-based SunHydrogen’s trial system to address manufacturing flaws. The pilot system at the University of Texas’ Hydrogen Protohub encountered performance shortfalls against initial targets. CTF Solar is a Germany-based subsidiary of the China National Building Materials Group, specialising in photovoltaic technology. The solar hydrogen panel centres on what the company calls photoelectrosynthetically active heterostructures (PAH), [...]
H2-View News: Dynoelectro to supply SOEC electrolysers for Icelandic eSAF demo
The proof-of-concept system will aim to be used to validate Canadian-based Syntholene’s approach to hydrogen production for use in synthetic aviation fuels (e-SAF) and other e-fuels. Dynoelectro manufactures SOECs in 250kW, 1MW, and 5MW iterations, which it claims have a hydrogen output of up to 27kg/MWh and operate effectively at variable loads. The Danish firm’s technology will be used at the demonstration facility, which will use up 20MW of energy from a dedicated geothermal energy resource to produce the fuels. The SOEC system’s size has not been revealed. However, it will mark one of the first real-world deployments of Dynoelectro’s [...]
H2-View News: German researchers tout DME as ‘game-changer’ for hydrogen imports
The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) said its method of producing dimethyl ether (DME) could be a “game-changer” for hydrogen. DME is an organic compound, typically used as an aerosol propellant. It is primarily produced by dehydrating methanol or directly from syngas, both using catalysts. The Institute’s “Indigo” production process performs DME synthesis and distillation simultaneously, which it claims increases efficiency and reduces costs by a quarter compared to conventional synthesis. DME can either be steam reformed to recover hydrogen or used directly as a fuel or chemical feedstock. This would require green hydrogen to be combined with [...]
H2-View News: Thyssenkrupp Nucera signals cost savings in green hydrogen as sales fall further
Thyssenkrupp Nucera plans cost savings and resource reallocation in its green hydrogen segment as orders and sales continue to fall. The German OEM reported a 21% drop in order intake to €75m ($89.4m) across both its green hydrogen and chlor-alkali businesses in Q1, while its order backlog fell to €489m ($582.7m) by the end of 2025 from €606m ($722m) just three months earlier. Net income also fell from €9m ($10.7m) to –€3m (–$3.6m). This is a paid article, to read the article in full you can sign in if you are subscribed or subscribe today.
H2-View News: Taqa, Moeve secured land for Moroccan green ammonia and fuels plant
The agreement greenlights a key phase of feasibility studies for the plant, which would see the Morocco subsidiary of Taqa supply renewable energy components, and Spain’s Moeve lead e-fuels production and marketing. Planned for the Dakhla region, specific details of the plant, including its projected timeline, output capacity, and price tag, remain undisclosed. It falls under Morocco’s national hydrogen framework, known as the Morocco Offer, which allocates up to 30,000 hectares per project and targets the mobilisation of up to one million hectares for green hydrogen development. Morocco expects a demand of up to 30TWh by 2030 and 307TWh by [...]
H2-View News: Hydrogen groups warn CBAM suspension plan threatens investor confidence
It comes as the Commission considers introducing a suspension clause, unveiled last December, in the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). The Article 27a tool would give Brussels the power to remove certain goods from the scheme if their inclusion caused “severe harm” to the EU market. In a letter to top Commission officials, the Hydrogen Council, Hydrogen Europe, Renewable Hydrogen Coalition, and others said the tool “undermines market confidence” and risks jeopardising investment in decarbonisation. CBAM, which covers hydrogen, electricity, fertilisers, aluminium, iron and steel, and cement, places a carbon price on goods imported into the EU. It was hoped [...]
