H2-View News: Finland and Germany advance hydrogen collaboration
The declaration outlined cooperation across hydrogen infrastructure, technology development and investment. Sari Multala, Finnish Minister of Climate and Environment, said that hydrogen will be a “key tool” and opportunity in Finland’s clean transition, and outlined a target of accounting for 10% of hydrogen production in the EU. The agreement between the German Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy and Multala could further Finland’s ambitions to become Europe’s leading economy across the hydrogen value chain and make it an internationally leading supplier. The country’s location, vast hydropower resources, strong infrastructure, and policy pulls have increasingly positioned Finland as an attractive hub [...]
Hydrogen Council News: Rebuilding confidence in EU CBAM: Urgent call to remove Article 27a
Today, Hydrogen Council, together with Business for CBAM Coalition, European Industrial Gases Association (EIGA), Hydrogen Europe, IFIEC Europe, and Renewable Hydrogen Coalition, representing industrial leaders investing in clean hydrogen, ammonia, steel and fertilizers, in and beyond the EU, joins the industry-wide call to remove the proposed Article 27a from the CBAM revision. In a letter to European Parliament’s Committee on Environment, we explain why Article 27a would undermine market confidence and deter urgently needed investment in decarbonisation across CBAM sectors. Why this matters now Policy certainty: CBAM was designed to provide long-term investment certainty for clean energy, industrial and agrifood systems [...]
H2-View News: DHL to trial hydrogen truck in the Netherlands
The single truck will cover around 300km per day, collecting feasibility data on range, energy consumption, driver training, and comparison with diesel and electric alternatives. The multinational transport and distribution major says the trial – across the provinces of Overjissel and Gelderland – comes as a broader effort to decarbonise. It is also trialling biofuels and battery electric vehicles. European joint venture between TotalEnergies and Air Liquide, Teal Mobility – which is expanding a network of hydrogen refuelling stations across Europe – will supply fuel to the trial. The Hyundai Xcient Fuel Cell 6×2 truck is being leased through German [...]
H2-View News: Newfoundland strips Crown Land reserves from three green hydrogen projects
The update came from the Canadian province’s Energy Minister Lloyd Parrott, whose office said the global green hydrogen market was “growing more slowly than expected.” The stripped reserves are related to World Energy GH2’s 1.2GW green ammonia project, EverWind Fuels’ Burin Peninsula green fuels project, and the Toqlukuti’k project being undertaken by ABO Wind, Braya Renewable Fuels, and Miawpukek First Nation. The projects were awarded the right to develop on Crown Land in 2023, with reserves extended through the end of this month. Under these deals, companies had to pay a Crown lands reserve fee equal to 3.5% of the [...]
H2-View News: Synthesis technology providers selected for UK SAF project
Project Starling, located in Workington, UK, will convert captured carbon dioxide into synthetic kerosene using green hydrogen produced by 120MW of solid oxide electrolysers from 2031. Within this process, JM’s FT Cans Fischer-Tropsch technology – which was jointly developed with BP – will convert captured CO2 and green hydrogen into synthetic crude oil. This will then be upgraded by Honeywell’s Fischer-Tropsch Unicracking technology. The resulting synthetic kerosene will be blended with conventional jet fuel to produce SAF. CNF says it is engaging with airlines, fuel suppliers, and partners to develop long-term offtake agreements. Backed by £6m in funding from the [...]
H2-View News: NGOs and selected industry urges EU to maintain current RFNBO rules
A selection of NGOs and companies addressed Brussels with a joint letter calling for the bloc’s renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBO) rules to remain, arguing they will maintain certainty for producers, offtakers, and investors. The letter pressed the EU to refrain from accelerating a review into RFNBO requirements currently scheduled for 2028 – before the regulation’s requirements of hourly matching come into play in 2030. “An early revision would adversely affect early adopters and undermine legal certainty,” the letter signed by the likes of Environmental Defense Fund and Norsk e-Fuel stated. Current RFNBO criteria require electrolyser operators to source [...]
H2-View News: CF writes off $51m on scrapped green hydrogen project, backs blue ammonia
CF Industries has confirmed it will not proceed with its planned green hydrogen project as it focuses on economically attractive US blue ammonia production. The company logged a $51m asset impairment related to a 20MW green hydrogen plant at its Louisiana ammonia complex. H2-View News: Chinese duo comes on board Spanish hydrogen projects worth up to €1bn
According to local reports from Valencia Noticias, the president of the Shanghai Shaanyao Group, Roger Dejun, revealed the new partnership at the third National Green Hydrogen Congress in Huelva. The Chinese industrial developer will join the projects with compatriot clean technology company Eontsing to provide technological capabilities alongside MASPV’s local energy sector expertise. In meetings relating to the operations planned for 2026, Dejun hailed Spain’s regulatory framework, industrial capacity, and institutional commitment as offering great conditions for green hydrogen production. “Through MASPV, we have been able to analyse specific and advanced projects, allowing us to evaluate investment opportunities with a [...]
H2-View News: German e-gasoline producer looks to HIF’s Uruguay project for e-methanol supply
Under a head of agreement, HIF plans to supply e-methanol produced at its planned 1.1GW project in Uruguay to German eFuel One, which is looking to set up an e-gasoline project in Lower Saxony. While the deal sets a framework for negotiating definitive offtake, it does not yet constitute a binding supply agreement. The plans would see HIF e-methanol imported into Germany through the Port of Hamburg, with German eFuel One expected to upgrade the chemical into e-gasoline and other fuels for transport applications. E-methanol produced by HIF’s $5.3bn Paysandú project in Uruguay is planned to meet EU rules on [...]
