H2-View News: Plug Power sells $30m tax credit from Georgia hydrogen plant
The hydrogen firm said it had “boosted its liquidity through the transfer of the Federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC)” to an unnamed major investor “with a strong track record of purchasing comparable credits.” Under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), Plug says its 40MW Woodbine liquid green hydrogen plant is eligible for both the $3/kg offered by section 45V, as well as the 30% ITC to subsidise the project’s CAPEX investment, thanks to the plant’s storage abilities. However, Plug says it has transferred the $30m awarded through the ITC to an unnamed investor. Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Paul Middleton said, “Plug [...]
H2-View News: Green hydrogen will dominate blue forecasts GlobalData
However the report forecasts green hydrogen – bedevilled by grid, electrolysis, water and finance challenges – will account for 83% of low-carbon hydrogen capacity coming online by 2030. This positive outlook appears at odds with many forecasts foreseeing blue hydrogen will be dominant in the short-to-medium term. Source: GlobalData Indeed, GlobalData concedes ‘the demand from the oil and gas industry will remain the dominant driver for hydrogen in the foreseeable future. Additional demand for this commodity is expected to emerge from industries such as metallurgy, power generation, and transportation.’ That points to support for blue with carbon capture. It is [...]
H2-View News: Stralis Aircraft and CQ University plan for liquid hydrogen flight by 2027 in Australia
The Brisbane-based company will work with CQ University to design a heat management system for a high-temperature PEM fuel cell system that they aim to integrate into the liquid hydrogen-powered aircraft. H2 View understands that the two plan to test the hydrogen-electric propulsion system on a Bonanza A36 aircraft in Queensland later this year. The Regional University Industry Collaboration (RUIC) Programme is supporting the project, and it will be funded by the Queensland Government and delivered by Australia’s national science agency CSIRO. The RUIC initiative connects small to medium enterprises (SMEs) with regional universities to undertake collaborative research partnerships across [...]
H2-View News: Trammo eyes 500,000-tonnes blue ammonia offtake deal from Exxon’s Baytown plant
The pair have signed a Heads of Agreement (HOA) to advance talks on Trammo’s long-term offtake of 300,000-500,000 tonnes of low-carbon ammonia per year. The Baytown plant is expected to be among the world’s largest blue hydrogen plants, with the capacity to supply the energy carrier to generate over one million tonnes of ammonia per year, with around 98% of CO2 captured. Trammo plans to deliver and sell blue ammonia in Europe and worldwide for use in fertiliser production and other industrial applications. It comes after Japanese majors Mitsubishi and Jera revealed they were looking to offtake ammonia from and [...]

H2-View News: Worley wins FEED contract for 300 tonne per day green ammonia facility in Texas
Expected to be the first commercial-scale ammonia project to utilise solid-oxide electrolysers (SOEC), the plant will have an initial production capacity of 300 tonnes per day, which could potentially be expanded. The plant will need to be designed for fluctuating operations, to match the availability of renewable energy and contribute to the stability of the local grid. Furthermore, the plant has a simple and modular design, lowering construction risk and minimising total project cost. Australia’s Worley will likely complete the final FEED study by the end of Q1 2025 before the full project breaks ground later this year. “We’re pleased [...]
H2-View News: JM cuts hydrogen spending again following investor pressure for strategic overhaul
Following a board review of a letter from Standard Investments, which holds an 11% stake in JM, the company has said its board will be “resolute in its focus on driving a step change in cash generation and higher returns on capital.” The letter, issued in December, urged JM to de-risk or sell its hydrogen technologies business, citing continued operating losses and a lack of clear profitability, amid broader calls for board reform and a strategic overhaul. H2-View News: Alleima to provide fuel cell components to Doosan for mass SOFC production
Under a SEK 160m ($14.5m) deal, the Swedish company will begin deliveries to Doosan in Q1 2025, which will last for two years. Doosan announced plans to build a 50MW mass-manufacturing facility based in South Korea in 2020. Read more: Ceres, Doosan to build 50MW mass manufacturing facility in South Korea Doosan will start commercial production of SOFCs this year. The company expects the systems to be used in maritime and stationary applications. Alleima’s Sanergy high-temperature pre-coating material for the fuel cell’s interconnects will be provided to Doosan, as the SOFC fuel cell operates at high temperatures, ranging from 500-700°C, [...]
H2-View News: Breaking ground in mobility with hydrogen: H2 View webinar
JCB’s Tim Burnhope has stressed the need for a “technology-neutral” approach in the mobility industry, as its hydrogen internal combustion engine (ICE) gains approval in over 10 European countries. During an H2 View webinar today (January 24), Burnhope highlighted that there is now a growing acceptance of hydrogen in mobility, despite an “overwhelming resistance” initially, as the ICE technology wasn’t deemed “a technology for the future.” This is a paid article, to read the article in full you can sign in if you are subscribed or subscribe today.
H2-View News: Brittany allocates €1.5m to hydrogen-powered catamaran project
The zero-emission passenger shuttle vessel will be used in La Forêt-Fouesnant in Brittany, France, although the project is currently in its initial production phase with only a concept ready. It will be equipped with electric propulsion and hydrogen storage tanks and be offered as a bare-boat charter solution, but could also be sold to shipowners or public authorities responsible for inter-island, urban bay crossings or leisure sea trips. The electric motors will draw energy from buffer storage batteries, while the onboard hydrogen will serve as a complementary energy source, with a higher capacity than the batteries. Combining hydrogen with oxygen [...]
