H2-View News: Energie AG to repurpose sections of Austrian gas pipeline to hydrogen

Energie AG is advancing the development and has commissioned Netz Oberösterreich to repurpose the pipeline between Linz and Sattledt. The Energie AG-owned company operates a network spanning 6,000km and expects to submit the first blending section for approval shortly. Reportedly, they will operate the dual-strand pipeline in Upper Austria as a dual-use pipeline in the future, allowing it to continue transporting natural gas in one pipe and hydrogen in the other. The hydrogen pipeline, with a diameter of 40cm, could transport up to 50 cubic metres of hydrogen per hour, depending on the pressure. This corresponds to around 170MW – [...]

H2-View News: OXCCU’s hydrogen-based SAF process promises to ‘lower capital costs by 50%’

Furthermore, the UK-based start-up has stated in a report that the SAF production costs are reduced by 25% per tonne compared to Reverse Water Gas Shift Fischer-Tropsch (RWGA+FT) when using OXCCU’s CO2 Fischer-Tropsch (CO2 F-T) process. The University of Oxford spin-out uses its iron-based F-T catalyst to produce SAFs, marketed under the brand OXEFUEL, by converting CO2 and green hydrogen into jet fuel in a single exothermic step, to streamline stages and reduce hydrogen needs, therefore cutting costs. © OXCCU H2 View understands that OXCCU has also proved they can meet the UK’s renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBO), greenhouse [...]

H2-View News: Lithuanian port to use IMI electrolyser for hydrogen refuelling

When commissioned, the VIVO electrolyser is forecasted to produce 500kg of green hydrogen on-site per day while using an electrical input of 3MW drawn from renewables. The on-site production will mean the refuelling station relies less on imported hydrogen. The electrolyser product reportedly offers full customisation in size, capacity and configuration, ranging from 100kW to 5MW, with the potential for further expansion to 20MW through a modular configuration. H2 View understands that these capabilities were attractive to both the EPC contractor MT Group and the Klaipéda State Seaport Authority in their electrolyser selection process. “We are committed to making the [...]

H2-View News: Sunfire awarded €200m in federal-state guarantee financing

Based in Dresden, the German firm has been backed by a consortium led by Commerzbank and other leading German and European commercial banks. H2 View understands that the financing has a five-year term. Around 80% of the financing has been secured by parallel default guarantees from the German Federal Government and the Free State of Saxony, with the remaining 20% provided by the banks themselves. The instrument reportedly eliminates the need for Sunfire to provide cash collateral, meaning they can secure industrial projects and customer orders financially more efficiently. Furthermore, the electrolyser manufacturer can more effectively use advance payments received [...]

H2-View News: ebm-papst and HYTING team up on hydrogen heat generators

HYTING’s concept offers a simple, safe and efficient way to generate heat directly from hydrogen, without combustion. The start-up has developed a forced-air heating system (patents pending) that uses a distinct catalytic process to turn hydrogen and oxygen from air into heat. The catalyst acts as a reaction accelerator. Unlike systems that rely on hydrogen combustion to generate heat, HYTING’s technology does not produce anyNOx, or particulate emissions – the only by-product is water, nor does it use flammable concentrations of hydrogen at any operating point. It is modular and highly scalable in design, with outputs of 10-300 kW, enabling [...]
