H2-View News: Canada backs HTEC’s $472m hydrogen liquefier project in British Columbia

On March 19, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, Anita Anand, announced a $49m investment in HTEC through the Strategic Innovation Fund to support the company’s $472m project. The project is being developed under HTEC’s H2 Gateway programme, and it will capture and liquefy 15 tonnes per day of industrial by-product hydrogen in North Vancouver, turning waste into clean fuel. The H2 Gateway programme plans the development of up to 20 hydrogen refuelling stations, three hydrogen production facilities and a fleet of 100 hydrogen heavy-duty fuel cell electric (FCEV) trucks. HTEC has stated the North Vancouver project will be [...]

H2-View News: Adani wins $324m transmission contract for Indian green hydrogen and ammonia facility

The project, due to be delivered within three years, will supply green electrons for the production of both gases in Mundra. It involves upgrading the Navinal electrical substation by adding two large 765/400kV transformers and building a 75km 765kV double-circuit line to connect the substation to the Bhuj substation. The project will add 150 circuit kilometres of transmission lines and 3,000 MVA of transformation capacity to the company’s portfolio. India is targeting five million tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2030. The Indian government recently awarded three-year subsidy payments to nine companies for green hydrogen production projects, with AM Green Ammonia [...]

H2-View News: Ceres logs record hydrogen tech order but CEO issues cautious 2025 outlook

UK solid oxide hydrogen tech licensor Ceres has posted record order intakes of £112.8m ($146m) thanks to major Asian deals in 2024. But speaking to H2 View, CEO Phil Caldwell offered a more grounded assessment. The firm’s revenues increased by 132% to £51.9m ($67m) in 2024, thanks to licensing deals with Taiwan’s Delta Electronics and Japan’s Denso, as well as an electrolyser system partnership with Thermax. Gross profit also jumped £26.6m ($34.4m) to £40m ($51.8m). This is a paid article, to read the article in full you can sign in if you are subscribed or subscribe today.

H2-View News: UK waste-to-energy, hydrogen, carbon capture plans approved

The North Lincolnshire Green Energy Park (NLGEP) secured a Development Consent Order (DCO) for its plans to process up to 760,000 tonnes of waste per year to generate 95MWe of electricity, which will be used to power electrolysis and homes in the area. Hydrogen will be produced by a 10MW electrolyser system using water from the waste condensate collected from the CO2 capture. The developers intend to set up a hydrogen refuelling station at the site, as well as potentially supplying the energy carrier for industrial processes or gas grid blending. The up to 650,000 tonnes of CO2 per year [...]

H2-View News: UK fuel swtiching trial ‘successfully’ uses hydrogen to fire ceramic products

Being carried out by Ceramics UK, Glass Futures, and Ryze, the trial’s pilot kiln fired 100% hydrogen to provide insights into the impact of hydrogen on ceramic products. In an online statement, Ryze Power claimed the findings “further support the case for hydrogen as a viable alternative for direct combustion processes where electrification is currently not an option.” The trial was backed by the UK Government Industrial Fuel Switching (IFS) programme. Ryze’s Power Sales Director, Alex Webster, said it’s vital to provide a range of alternative fuels, such as hydrogen, across the UK to “transition to Net Zero as soon [...]

H2-View News: Invenergy kicks off small-scale commercial clean hydrogen production in Illinois

The Sauk Valley Hydrogen facility has kicked off hydrogen production using a small-scale Ohmium PEM electrolyser powered by Invenergy’s co-located solar facility. Producing up to 40 tonnes of hydrogen per year, H2 View estimates the electrolyser system to have a capacity of around 150kW. The first volumes of hydrogen have been used as a cooling agent for a turbine generator at Invenergy’s 980MW natural gas facility adjacent to the installation. However, the company already has plans to sell hydrogen offsite. Hydrogen is expected to be supplied to liquid fuel producer Aether Fuels, which is looking to commercialise its power-to-liquid  (PtL) [...]

H2-View News: Hydrasun selects 2.5MW Nel electrolyser for Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub

The hub is being developed as a joint venture between BP and the Aberdeen City Council, although Scottish manufacturer Hydrasun made the purchase order for Nel’s unit. A final investment decision (FID) was taken on the hub last year. Hydrasun, a specialist in hydrogen system integration and refuelling solutions, will design and build the hub’s refuelling station and infrastructure, selecting Nel’s electrolyser for hydrogen production. Nel is expected to supply the electrolyser from its PEM manufacturing facility in Wallingford, Connecticut. Last October, the Norwegian company completed an expansion of the plant, increasing the annual capacity from 50 to 500MW. The company [...]

H2-View News: Hy2Gen to supply hydrogen-based ammonia to local mining explosives manufacturer

The CEO, Cyril Dufau-Sansot, confirmed to H2 View that the unnamed partner will locally transform green ammonia into ammonium nitrate, the main feedstock of mining explosives. The initiative is set to begin in 2027 and green ammonia production to start in 2030, boasting 300MW of electrolyser capacity. Last year, Hy2Gen was awarded 307MW of electricity to produce 230,000 tonnes of green ammonia per year at the facility. On Wednesday (March 19), the company officially submitted a project notice for the ammonia plant, meaning the project is now progressing towards approval from Québec’s Minister of the Environment, “marking the end of [...]

H2-View News: Plug Power CEO takes 50% of salary in stock to reassure hydrogen investors

The move is hoped to counter scepticism around the company’s ability to turn a profit by directly tying the boss’ financial interest more tightly to the company’s performance. Plug’s stock has dropped from over $3.50 a year ago to $1.58 as of March 20. “Aligning my compensation with our company’s outlook, both short and long-term, is a demonstration of my confidence in our vision, our team and the value we are creating for shareholders,” Marsh said in a statement. It comes after Plug logged a $2.1bn loss in 2024 – seeing its accumulated deficit rise to $6.6bn. A large portion [...]

H2-View News: India’s fossil-fuelled growth could hamper green hydrogen ambitions: WoodMac

Cost-competitive fossil fuels and insufficient transportation and storage infrastructure will prevent a surge in Indian green hydrogen demand by 2033, according to a new report by Wood MacKenzie. That’s despite the nation’s big ambitions on the energy carrier, backed up by government support and the second-lowest electrolytic levelised cost of hydrogen (LCOH) in Asia.
