H2-View News: California’s FPH2 opens RFP to tackle hydrogen transport bottlenecks

The Lancaster-based public authority, established to coordinate California’s hydrogen industry, has flagged logistics as a key barrier to adoption. With the RFP, FPH2 aims to standardise and scale hydrogen delivery through a public-led procurement model, rather than leaving logistics solely to private companies. It calls for transport solutions such as liquid tankers and tube trailers, with successful bidders potentially able to secure contracts, revenue streams, and preferred partner status. Vendors can submit proposals via PlanetBids by September 12, 2025, with bids evaluated on technical capability, cost-effectiveness, and long-term value, covering both liquid and gaseous transport services. The move from the [...]

H2-View News: Siemens Energy and Techint to deliver FEED for 210MW electrolyser plant in Mexico

Transition Industries is designing a hydrogen-based, low-carbon methanol production facility in Sinaloa, which is expected to produce around 2.2 million tonnes of green methanol per year. Siemens Energy’s Elyzer P-300 electrolyser has been confirmed as the backbone of the hydrogen production plant, featuring an estimated production capacity of approximately 4,000kg of hydrogen per hour. Cost certainty has been built into the FEED agreement, which sets an initial binding not-to-exceed lump sum firm price, followed by a final lump sum turnkey firm price for the full engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract – giving Transition Industries more predictable project costs and [...]

H2-View News: Hydrogen SPAs break from LNG model with shorter, policy-shaped terms

Hydrogen offtake agreements are drawing heavily from the long-term gas and LNG contracts that shaped global energy trade, but they’re being adapted to avoid previous pitfalls. New research from the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies has highlighted that while LNG sale and purchase agreements (SPAs) lock offtakers into 20–30-year terms and costly arbitration battles over price reviews, hydrogen SPAs are expected to be shorter, more flexible and shaped by subsidy and certification regimes. H2-View News: Thyssengas starts work on 52km hydrogen pipeline link on Dutch-German border

The 52km pipeline network between Vlieghuis in the Netherlands and Ochtrup in Germany will form part of the wider Northwest European hydrogen backbone to connect production centres and import terminals with industrial regions. It will connect the 9,000km German hydrogen core network with the Dutch province of Zeeland, and the ports of Amsterdam, Eemshaven, and Rotterdam. Work commenced at a midpoint in the network near the border in Hoogstede, with plans to have the system ready to handle 100% hydrogen by 2027. Pipeline conversion requires modifications, including valve and compressor component replacements, and contaminant removal. However, some warn that re-purposing [...]

H2-View News: Emsteel delivers hydrogen-based steel to Abu Dhabi’s first Net Zero mosque

Aldar is the first developer in the MENA region to incorporate hydrogen-based steel rebar into a construction project. In Sustainable City, Yas Island, the company is building the first Net Zero carbon mosque. The use of green steel is central to the mosque’s bid for LEED Zero Carbon certification, a first for Abu Dhabi, which Emsteel said would set a new benchmark in sustainable architecture. “This landmark delivery reinforces Emsteel’s commitment to driving industrial sustainability and accelerating the UAE’s transition to a low-carbon economy,” explained Saeed Ghumran Al Remeithi, Group CEO at Emsteel. While it’s not clear how much was [...]

H2-View News: Dubai green hydrogen pilot hits 100 tonnes milestone

Most of the hydrogen has been used to produce over 1.15 Gwh of clean electricity via a hydrogen gas engine, helping to abate 515 tonnes of carbon dioxide. The project is the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa to use solar power to produce hydrogen. It was implemented by DEWA, in collaboration with Expo 2020 Dubai and Siemens Energy, at the outdoor testing facilities of the R&D Centre at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. The pilot plant has been designed to accommodate future applications and test platforms for the different uses of [...]

H2-View News: IIT Madras develops ‘cost-effective’ seawater electrolysis system

The Indian technical and research university claimed the system is cheaper to build and operate, which could improve the economics of green hydrogen production and speed up adoption. Using seawater for electrolysis offers location flexibility, paving the way for offshore or coastal hydrogen hubs that can be co-located with wind or solar power. IIT Madras also said the breakthrough supports India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission, which aims to establish the country as a leading global producer and exporter. If scaled, the technology could cut costs, ease pressure on freshwater, and enhance India’s competitiveness in the hydrogen market. The development is [...]

H2-View News: PGS selects Thyssenkrupp Nucera tech for 1.4GW green iron project in Australia

The German technology firm has been selected as the preferred supplier to deliver modular 20MW alkaline electrolysers for green hydrogen production at what PGS says will be the world’s largest green iron plant. Planned for Geraldton, Western Australia, the facility aims to produce up to 7 million tonnes of green iron pellets annually, alongside as much as 2.5 million tonnes of hot briquetted iron (HBI) for export. In the long term, the green steel developer plans to produce and export up to 30 million tonnes of DR-grade green pellets and 10 million tonnes of green HBI per year as it [...]

H2-View News: Cavendish Hydrogen tightens losses but warns of lower revenues ahead

The Nel spin-off logged revenues of €5.6m ($6.5m), up from €3.7m ($4.3m) in Q1 but down on the same period in 2024. It reported losses before interest and taxes of €4.6m ($5.4m), up 35% from last quarter. Despite the loss narrowing, the firm’s cash position was reduced from €34.5m ($40.2m) in Q1 to €28.7m ($33.4m), despite plans to stem cash flow with job cuts and paused R&D work earlier this year. CEO Robert Borin said the quarter unfolded “largely as expected” and was keen to highlight Cavendish’s opening of two new stations in California. He stressed that the stations in [...]

H2-View News: Ohmium unveils new PEM electrolyser with compact 29.7 m²/MW footprint

Ohmium reiterated that the plant doesn’t just encompass the electrolyser stacks, but it integrates the balance of plant, power distribution and electronics, water treatment, purification and cooling. Additionally, the US-based clean energy technology firm has said standard equipment, such as forklifts, can be used to handle modules, cutting construction costs and making replacements easier. H2 View understands the 29.7 m²/MW figure reflects the electrolyser’s full footprint. For example, a 10MW system would occupy roughly the area of a tennis court, which translates into savings on land, installation, and maintenance, directly lowering the levelised cost of hydrogen (LCOH). “By integrating a [...]
