H2-View News: Everfuel delivers first hydrogen from HySnergy to Crossbridge Energy

The facility has been developed adjacent to Crossbridge’s Fredericia refinery, and the hydrogen will be used to decarbonise its operations. The Crossbridge Energy refinery refines crude oil into liquid fuels for shipping, transportation, and aviation, and also supplies heat for district heating. “With hydrogen in the pipeline from HySynergy to Crossbridge Energy, we mark the beginning of what could become a new era,” claimed Finn Schousboe, CEO of Crossbridge Energy “The new era, however, requires that legislation recognises that the use of green hydrogen instead of traditional hydrogen contributes to meeting the current displacement requirements for Danish fuels.” Everfuel’s Founder and [...]

H2-View News: 95 Nikola trucks recalled due to safety issue with hydrogen tank

Its hydrogen-powered trucks have been recalled as the bolts may be too long and they could damage the tank – therefore increasing the risk of a hydrogen leak and, potentially, a fire. Once returned, dealers will inspect and replace the bolts and the hydrogen tanks if necessary. Nikola will still cover the costs of the recalls despite being bankrupt. Vehicle owners will be informed by March 15, 2025. On February 19, the controversial US-based truck manufacturer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy with approximately $47m in the bank. H2-View News: Cavendish Hydrogen records €3.5m loss in Q4 2024

The company blamed fewer equipment sales and lower project-related revenues but acknowledged that order intake was below expectations “due to market delays.” Revenues fell from €8.3m ($8.6m) in Q4 2023 to €6.4m ($6.6m) in Q4 2024, marking a 22.9% decline. Meanwhile, EBITDA worsened, dropping from -€2.2m (-$2.3m) to -€3.5m over the same period. Last month, the refuelling firm revealed it will make around 45% of its global workforce redundant in Q1 2025 and pause the development of its high-capacity hydrogen refuelling station as part of a cost-cutting plan. H2-View News: Nel wraps up €135m EU grant to scale alkaline electrolyser technology

The Norwegian manufacturer was initially awarded the grant last October. Nel described the new technology as a “fundamental redesign” of its previous pressurised systems, offering higher efficiency to lower OPEX and faster response times for seamless integration with renewables. Read more: Nel gives pressurised alkaline electrolysers a second shot with €135m EU boost In a LinkedIn statement, Nel said the funding “represents a significant milestone in our efforts to scale green hydrogen production, bolster technological advancements and contribute to Europe’s climate goals.” With over six years of experience in developing alkaline technology, Nel manufactures both PEM and alkaline electrolysers at [...]

H2-View News: Hydrogen HGVs take centre stage at HyHaul UTAC Millbrook event

Held at UTAC Millbrook, HyHaul brought together UK-based operators to gain firsthand experience of hydrogen—powered heavy goods vehicles (HGVs). Rides on FAUN Zoeller and Toyota Hillux vehicles took place on Millbrook’s Hill Route. At the same time, attendees could also explore other hydrogen vehicles and infrastructure, including Viritech’s ICEBreaker and Fuel Cell Systems’ HyQube. HyHaul plans to develop the “UK’s largest hydrogen mobility corridor” along the M4. It will deploy hydrogen fuel cell HGVs and refuelling stations along the motorway, rolling out 30 vehicles by 2026 and 300 by 2030. HyHaul’s key objective is to foster collaboration between operators and [...]

H2-View News: EU supports Galp’s 100MW green hydrogen unit in Portugal with €180m funding

The European Investment Bank (EIB) announced today (February 27) that it will loan €180m ($187m) to support Galp’s hydrogen project, with an additional €250m ($260m) going towards its biofuel unit. Galp reached a final investment decision (FID) on its green hydrogen project in 2023. The electrolyser is set to begin production in 2026, delivering up to 15,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually and becoming one of the “first” operational units of its scale in Europe, according to the EIB. Read more: Galp reaches FID on green hydrogen, HVO and SAF projects “By supporting the production of advanced biofuels and green [...]

H2-View News: Tyczka Hydrogen secures funding to expand hydrogen hub with production plant and refuelling station

Tyczka was already building a hydrogen refuelling station suitable for public transport and heavy-duty vehicles at the port. With the additional funding, they will construct a plant capable of producing up to 2.2 tonnes of green hydrogen per day once operational. The German gas specialist has stated that the hydrogen will be produced using electricity from photovoltaic and solar resources. Due to the facility’s proximity to the SuedLink direct current connection point, wind power from Northern Germany and offshore wind farms will also be used to produce hydrogen. Construction is set to begin this year, with commissioning scheduled for the [...]

H2-View News: Taylor-Wharton, GenH2 partner on liquid hydrogen tech to reduce boil-off

Under the partnership, the Air Water America subsidiary will integrate GenH2’s controlled storage technology into its liquid hydrogen bulk storage tanks. Liquid hydrogen is often considered one of the most effective ways to transport hydrogen due to its higher energy density compared to compressed hydrogen. Boil-off occurs when liquid hydrogen warms above -253ºC and reverts to gas. While the companies emphasise boil-off as a key adoption barrier, wider discussion suggests that infrastructure investment and production costs play a far greater role. The companies state that hydrogen refuelling operations experience 20-40% losses due to boil-off. However, industry data shows that such [...]
