H2-View News: Cmb.Tech secures green ammonia supply from China
CEEC will produce green ammonia in Jilin Province as part of its Songyuan project starting in January 2026, with an annual capacity of around 158,000 tonnes. The green ammonia is also certified under ISCC EU RFNBO standards. In addition to securing fuel supply, the Dutch company has taken a minority stake in Jiangsu Andefu Energy Technology, one of China’s largest ammonia supply firms. Andefu is building storage and terminals, including a 49,000 m³ tank in Nanjing and a larger Panjin terminal, and advancing ship-to-ship ammonia bunkering for 2026. The new storage tanks and ship-to-ship bunkering capabilities are expected to provide the [...]
H2-View News: Uniper to sell 20% stake in OPAL hydrogen pipeline
The move is driven by EU state-aid conditions rather than a shift in strategy from Uniper. The European Commission required the divestment of certain assets as part of its approval of state support granted during the energy crisis. The transaction will cover Uniper’s entire shareholding in Lubmin-Brandov Assets GmbH & Co. KG, which holds a 20% interest in OPAL, with the remaining 80% owned by Gascade Gastransport. The OPAL corridor stretches around 470km from Lubmin to the Czech border at Brandov. Conversion of the pipeline’s northern section, which overlaps with Gascade’s Flow hydrogen project, is expected to be completed before [...]
H2-View News: Gas networks and unions challenge UK shift toward more ‘focused’ hydrogen role
UK gas, industry, and labour lobbyists have warned the government against narrowing the role of hydrogen in its delayed hydrogen strategy refresh, arguing reduced ambitions would undermine investment, jobs, and competitiveness. In a letter sent to Energy Secretary Ed Miliband, the heads of Future Energy Networks, the GMB union, the Hydrogen Energy Association, and the Green Gas Taskforce said the strategy represented a “make or break moment” for the UK hydrogen industry. They cautioned any move to prescribe where hydrogen can and cannot be used, or to significantly constrain production pathways, risks deterring private capital and pushing investment overseas. This [...]
H2-View News: EU approves €408m Spanish state aid under Clean Industrial Deal
Fully funded through the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), the scheme is aimed at existing industrial installations and designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in energy-intensive sectors. Support will be provided in the form of direct grants, with eligible technologies extending beyond hydrogen to include electrification, waste-heat recovery, and carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS). Spain estimates the measure will deliver annual emissions savings of around 1.6 million tonnes of CO2. Funding will be made available to companies of all sizes operating both within and outside the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS). Projects are required to be operational within [...]
H2-View News: HDF Energy to develop 1MW fuel cells for ships with ABB
HDF will design and manufacture 1MW fuel cell units at its Blanquefort facility, overseeing certification, testing and commercialisation. The systems will be scalable, allowing multiple units to be combined to power larger vessels. ABB will be responsible for system integration, ensuring the fuel cells are compatible with onboard power and propulsion systems. HDF has been backed with up to €168.8m ($198m) in French state support under an EU Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI) contract. The funding under the Hy2Move IPCEI program will enable HDF to industrialise the fuel cells at its Blanquefort facility, which includes a high-power test [...]
H2-View News: Fortescue amends PPA, pushing Norway green hydrogen start-up past 2029
Fortescue has amended a conditional power purchase agreement (PPA) for its 300MW Norwegian green hydrogen project, pushing the plant’s expected start-up beyond its original 2027 target. Norwegian hydropower firm Statkraft said the PPA for Fortescue’s Holmaneset green hydrogen and ammonia plant has been pushed back to post-2029 and extended to a 10-year supply deal. H2-View News: Lummus and Advanced Ionics launch Texas pilot plant for electrolyser technology
Located in Pasadena, Texas, Lumus will run the plant, operate the equipment, and handle the supporting systems around it, while Advanced Ionics will provide its technology. H2 View understands that Advanced Ionics’ electrolyser is designed to use up to 50% less electricity per kilogram of hydrogen by operating at intermediate temperatures and leveraging existing industrial steam. © Lumus / Advanced Ionics The partners aim to prove the technology works in real-world conditions. If it performs as expected, they expect to move faster toward commercial use. “We are leveraging the expertise of our scientists and R&D team, plus our proven track [...]
H2-View News: Grant withdrawal brings HyHaul’s £14m hydrogen HGV corridor to a close
The decision follows the termination of a key Innovate UK and Department for Transport grant after the project failed to meet milestones linked to its Customer and Fleet Leasing work package. Since its launch in July, the consortium engaged more than 100 potential customers, representing 192 vehicles and over a quarter of the UK’s 44-tonne HGV market. However, interest was expressed through non-binding commitments, which did not convert into signed leasing agreements within the grant’s fixed timeframe. H2 View understands that the closure will end plans for three hydrogen refuelling stations in Avonmouth and Reading, intended to support up to [...]
H2-View News: Patrizia secures €351m refinancing for Etzel underground storage facility
The Augsburg-headquartered real assets investment manager has secured €351m ($412m) in refinancing, as part of a wider €540m ($634m) debt package, extending loan maturities by five years and lowering borrowing costs to support the asset’s long-term development. The Etzel storage facility is one of the country’s largest underground sites, comprising 75 operational salt caverns used to store oil and gas reserves, with capacity to expand to up to 99 caverns. Hydrogen tests at Etzel have already been completed with major European partners. In 2024, Gasunie and Storag Etzel agreed to develop hydrogen storage caverns with up to 11TWh of capacity, [...]
H2-View News: KBR wins engineering and technology role for Ignis’ green ammonia project in Spain
Located in A Coruña, the facility will use renewable electricity to produce green hydrogen, which will be converted into green ammonia. As the technology provider and engineering contractor, the US-based firm will undertake early design work for Ignis to prove the project is technically and economically viable. The Spanish renewables and energy infrastructure company will develop the overall initiative, secure the required permits, funding, and offtake agreements, and supply the renewable power. “KBR’s green ammonia solutions, along with complementary technologies such as H2Act ammonia cracking, make us a global leader in delivering reliable and energy-efficient ammonia technology at a lower [...]
