The 21-year-old company, which specialises in the design, manufacture, service, sale and rental of well intervention and control equipment for the global energy industry has invested £1m in the new division, which will create around 20 jobs.

The catalyst to establish a renewables service came from prototype work and a subsequent ‘eight-figure’ contract award, which will see TIS manufacture the stations on behalf of engineering firm, NanoSUN.

TIS views this project as an opportunity to illustrate the transferable nature of its services, from oil and gas to the renewable energy sector.

TIS Manufacturing Renewables was launched in early 2023, transferring the company’s comprehensive experience across the international oil and gas industry to the renewable energy sector, by providing bespoke solutions to suit the requirements of the energy transition.

Drew Roberston, TIS Business Development Manager, said, “With road travel accounting for around three quarters of global transport emissions, hydrogen will play of key role in the decarbonising of commercial transport applications; in particular the hard to decarbonise sectors of maritime, aviation and road.”

Dean O’Connor, CEO of NanoSUN, added, “NanoSUN’s Pioneer Mobile Hydrogen Refuelling Station represents the connective tissue between producers of hydrogen and operators of hydrogen fleets. It slashes the cost and the time needed to deploy refuelling infrastructure and is pivotal to accelerating the roll out of hydrogen vehicle fleets.”
