HH2E aims to install 4GW of electrolysis capacity in the European country by 2030 and its technology mix can turn a fluctuating input of solar or wind energy into a constant supply of green hydrogen, heat and carbon-free electricity.
LEAG has objectives to be one of Germany’s leading green power producers by 2030 with the GigawattFactory, which consists of PV and win power plants with a total capacity of seven gigawatts.
Andreas Schierenbeck, HH2E co-founder and board member, said, “Access to green energy is now a key factor in companies’ and businesses’ location decisions.
“The production of green hydrogen can act as an economic catalyst in any region, drawing in numerous industries and businesses.”
Dr Philipp Nellessen, LEAG’s Board Member for Production, added, “We are delighted to explore cooperation opportunities with HH2E, as it is another step forward in our hydrogen strategy.”
Last month (January), HH2E announced its second major green hydrogen production project in Germany received backing from HydrogenOne Capital and Foresight Group.
HH2E plan to initially build 100MW of capacity by 2025, with intentions of scaling the site to over 1GW by 2030.

HH2E also revealed Nel is set to supply the German-based company with up to 120MW of electrolyser capacity after agreeing a front end engineering and design (FEED) study and a Letter of Intent (LoI) for two 60MW electrolyser plants in Germany.
According to the two companies, HH2E’s electrolyser plants will be among the ‘largest’ green hydrogen production facilities in Europe and could be expanded in the future as HH2E works towards its 4GW capacity goal.
