It has also given an operation and maintenance service contract to BOC, and together the companies participated in a design competition to provide proposals for FEED.

The proposals included options for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and operation and maintenance for the first five years (subject to EPC option being exercised).

H2H Saltend, a 600MW low carbon production plant with carbon capture, is helping to establish the Humber as an international hub for low carbon hydrogen, and will use Linde’s hydrogen and air separation technologies, which will be operated by BOC.

AsbjØrn Haugsgjerd, Equinor’s Project Director for H2H Saltend, said, “(Linde) has demonstrated its expertise and commitment throughout the rigorous selection process over the last year and through previous work with this technology and operations.”

The project, due to be operational by 2027, will store around 890,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year, the equivalent to taking around 500,000 cars of the road annually.

The project is part of Equinor’s H2H ambition to deliver 1.8GW of low carbon hydrogen production within the region, nearly 20% of the UKs national target.

Last year, Equinor submitted a co-funded bid, worth over £16m, to the UK Government for a major 1.2GW low carbon hydrogen production facility in the Humber, North East England.

The 1.2GW H2H Production 2 project hopes to be operational by 2028 and will be combined with Equinor’s 600MW H2H Saltend project, the company anticipating the two projects could meet 18% of the UK Government’s 2030 goals of 10GW of hydrogen production capacity.

A Successful Ecosystem for Green Hydrogen – London

It is becoming ever clearer that the entire green hydrogen ecosystem requires alignment. Hydrogen’s potential, performance, and safety are proven. Green hydrogen is widely accepted as a core pathway to Net Zero, yet the key levers in the transition are not yet in-sync.

At H2 View we recognise the increasingly challenging economic climate that various countries/economies are currently facing. We want to help as many companies as possible in the hydrogen space to achieve their needs as competitively and logically as possible. As a result, we felt it was a compelling decision to relocate our previously planned event in Iceland, to a venue in London.

Join H2 View in London, one of the foremost investment capitals of the world, for a 1.5-day event devoted to thought leadership, insights, and actionable takeaways in the green hydrogen ecosystem, combined with the connections and networking to deliver against those objectives.

This H2 View hydrogen summit is dedicated to dissecting the ecosystem requirements to truly realise a green hydrogen-fuelled future across industries, transport, and society. This event will tackle all sides of the energy ecosystem, from wind and solar power requirements to additionality, water sustainability, electrolyser technologies, and investment and policy climate.
