As part of the agreement, set to run until 2027, HRS will be one of the preferred suppliers of refuelling infrastructure for the 1.7GW pipeline of hydrogen projects developed by pHYnix in Portugal, Spain, and France.

Under the firm order, HRS will supply eight of its stations, including five with a capacity of one tonne per day, and three with 200kg per day to the hydrogen producer and distributor.

Additionally, H2 View understands pHYnix has placed part of its future orders with HRS following the initial agreement, which could see an additional five one tonne per day stations supplied.

“We are very pleased with this partnership with HRS, one of the leading players in the hydrogen station market,” said Jean Pierre Riche, founder and President of pHYnix. “This agreement demonstrates the acceleration of our development and symbolises our desire to remain at the forefront of the transition to renewable hydrogen in Europe.”

Hassen Rachedi, founder and CEO of HRS, commented, “The decarbonisation of transport, through hydrogen mobility, requires the rapid establishment of a commercial-scale infrastructure network ranging from the production to the distribution of hydrogen.

“Our ability to rapidly deploy large-capacity stations, of one tonne per day and more, will support the rapid expansion of pHYnix’s green hydrogen production capacities.”

In October (2022), the European Parliament voted in favour of retaining the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR), in a move which could boost hydrogen refuelling infrastructure across Europe.

The regulation sets out to establish up to 1,780 hydrogen refuelling stations along the core and comprehensive TEN-T networks, with a maximum distance of 100km between each station.
