Having announced the completion of selecting all major component suppliers and procurement of necessary parts for the first fuel cell modules, TECO 2030 takes a step closer to deploying its hydrogen-powered solutions.

H2 View understands the FCM400 (400kW fuel cell) will be assembled at AVL’s facility in Graz, Austria during the second quarter of 2023, with hopes of completing advanced testbed operations being completed during Q3.

The announcement comes less than a month after the company revealed it had completed the production of its first fuel cell stack.

Coming as the building block of TECO 2030’s fuel cell power system, the FCM400 is paving the way for the company’s future deployments in marine and heavy-duty applications.

“The milestone proves maturity of the product details and is a step towards reaching our final product design,” said Tore Enger, Group CEO at TECO 2030. “In other words, a clear indication of development progressions as we move into a new step in the development project timeline, according to our schedule.”

A major project in TECO 2030 headlights is the hydrogen-powered tanker dubbed HyEkoTank. With a consortium of partners, TECO plans to retrofit its fuel cells along with 4,000kg of compressed hydrogen storage onboard the 18.600 DWT product tanker, with the aim of cutting the ship’s emissions.

“Zero emission fuel cell power sources for heavy-duty and marine applications are very soon ready for market introduction, and we are ready to provide clients with fuel cells performing like never before. The FCM400 will undoubtedly become a propulsion game-changer in the marine industry,” Enger added.
