The Norwegian company revealed it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SEFE Marketing & Trading (SM&T) with the target of securing an agreement for an initial volume of hydrogen from Gen2’s first production facility, planned to be built in Mosjøen, Norway.
With delivery expected to commence in late 2025 or early 2026, the announcement follows on from Wood being awarded a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for the Mosjøen facility, which is set to boast 100MW of hydrogen production capacity.

SEFE has said it is aiming to supply its customers with hydrogen at a time when the value chain and infrastructure in Germany and wider Europe are still being developed.
Dr. Egbert Laege, Managing Director of SEFE, said, “The agreement is of tremendous strategic importance to the SEFE Group. The project with Gen2 Energy advances SEFE in its role as an enabler of the energy transition in Germany and Europe. We are thrilled by the progress made with Gen2 Energy for supplying our markets in North-West Europe with green hydrogen.”
H2 View understands compressed hydrogen from the Gen2 facility will be delivered via a dedicated ship from its production sites along the Norwegian coastline to ports in Germany, the Netherlands, and/or the UK.
In December (2022), Gen2 said it has signed an agreement for the long-term lease of an industrial site in Åfjord, Norway for the large-scale production and shipping of green hydrogen, adding to its portfolio of planned sites along the Norwegian coast.

Last week (January 5), Norway and Germany announced plans to ensure large-scale supply of hydrogen with necessary infrastructure from Norway to Germany by 2030.
