H2 View understands the cooperation will focus on the 20th WINDFORCE, the annual conference for the international offshore wind industry, set to be held in Bremerhaven, Germany in June 2023, where the partners hope to encourage mutual contact and cooperation between its members.
Additionally, the groups hope to shed light on the opportunities that could arise from both nations with plans to expand offshore wind energy and for the production of green hydrogen at sea.
Norwegian Prime Minister, Jonas Gahr Støre, in May (2022), reiterated the county’s commitment to developing the hydrogen value chain to complement plans to develop 30GW of offshore wind production by 2040.

Germany also plans to have 30GW of offshore wind capacity installed in the North and Baltic Seas by 2030, along with firm ambitions to lead the European hydrogen charge.

“We are happy to extend our cooperation with the WAB e.V. and to present Norway as partner during the WINDFORCE 2023,” said Klaus Udesen, Director Wind Norwegian Energy Partners. “In the last months the energy partnership between Germany and Norway has grown. However especially in the area of future technologies, as offshore wind and hydrogen, there is much more room for cooperation between the two countries.”
Heike Winkler, Managing Director of WAB e.V., commented, “We are very happy about this cooperation and each other’ s visit too. The 20th WINDFORCE is additionally a great opportunity for the exchange and networking of the companies and institutes for the bottom-fixed and floating offshore wind energy as well as the production and use of green hydrogen.”
In 2019, WAB and H2BX joined forces and established a new Hydrogen Working Group to focus on green hydrogen from wind power in Germany.
