H2X has said the Warrego is now undergoing final validation and verification testing procedures in the Netherlands as it heads towards gaining European and global certification, with plans to commence certification testing in Australia.
The first release of the Warrego features a 60kW fuel cell connected to a hybrid battery electric drive system. H2 View understands the powertrain system is connected to a 700-bar type four hydrogen tank, which the company offers exceptional safety levels.
According to H2X, the system will allow the pick-up to work at the lower 350 bar compression, as well as running at higher compression rates.
The company has said that the Warrego will be available to customers over the coming months, in line with the availability of hydrogen. It is set to be produced in Europe as well as Australia at H2X’s facility in Sale, Victoria.
In September 2021, H2X announced it has seen unprecedented demand for the Warrego, with the company collecting A$50m ($32.6m) in order requests within the first four days of its unveiling.

Brendan Norman, CEO and founder of H2X Global, said, “It is extremely satisfying that our team now have the Warrego running through the final stages of its engineering, safety and on-road verification program and production readiness.
“We have indeed had some frustrating delays over the past nine months; however, we are now well on track with our rollout plans.
“Supply chain issues, which have negatively impacted manufacturing companies worldwide, put us about nine months behind schedule; however, our production and engineering teams have done an amazing job to overcome these problems, and we are now back on schedule.”
It is hoped the pick-up will demonstrate the company’s capabilities platform that will be used as a basis for the upcoming H2X Darling Delivery Van in the coming years.
Norman added, “The Warrego is essentially a demonstration vehicle which we can offer to several customers to accelerate the availability of an AWD light commercial vehicles to customers, using a state-of-the-art hybrid hydrogen fuel cell system.
“This application will be applied in a more optimised form in the Darling Delivery Van and Taxi/MPV targeted for release to support the large number of European cities which will be closed off from diesel and petrol vehicles from 2025.”
H2X driving inner city hydrogen infrastructure
The urban centres of the future will be much quieter and cleaner places. The grime from decades of diesel fumes and fuel emissions will be gone and the constant drum of internal combustion engines will be replaced by the muted sounds of electric powertrains.
And the application of hydrogen fuel cells to drive those engines will contribute a massive reduction in the smog and toxic air over many of major cities. The rapidly changing dynamic for the provision of new energy is a recognition of the responsibility we all have to leave a legacy of a clean environment.
H2X Global is an organisation which through engineering and design innovation, is establishing the new paradigm that will become the prevailing model for vehicle production into the future. As a leading hydrogen fuel cell vehicle and power machinery developer and manufacturer, H2X already has a number of hydrogen-powered vehicles in production. H2X is now rapidly developing a range of more efficient and versatile cars, trucks, buses and vans which will progressively be released onto our roads and streets.
