Meeks who had most recently had served as Hyzon’s Chief Strategy Officer, steps up to the senior positions as Craig Knight leaves his role of Director, and George Gu will transition to non-executive Chairman of the Board.

H2 View understands, during his tenure as interim boss, Meeks will receive strategic counsel from Gu related to R&D initiatives. Additionally, the board plans to initiate a search to identify potential external and internal candidates to serve as the company’s next CEO.

Hyzon Motors was born in 2020 with Craig Knight and George Gu firmly at the helm alongside Gary Robb, after the trio had built Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies in 2003. Since its establishment, Hyzon has gone from strength to strength, certifying itself as one of the major players in heavy-duty hydrogen-powered mobility solutions.

In June (2022), the company revealed it was expanding its operations in Germany with the acquisition of ORTEN Betriebs.

Commenting on his appointment to the interim role, Parker Meeks, said, “I am honoured that the Board has entrusted me to lead Hyzon. My priority is to ensure the Company’s manufacturing capacity is in place with the ability to scale production efficiently.

“I believe our core fuel cell technology is a distinct competitive advantage, that will allow us to innovate and introduce high-performance vehicles that support the transition to clean energy.”
