Egypt’s H2Global-backed 100MW green hydrogen plant starts ‘partial’ production

Egypt’s 100MW green hydrogen project, lined up to supply molecules to Europe through German-backed contracts, has started “partial” production, according to a government statement.

The project, currently being commissioned by Norway’s Scatec, and backed by the Sovereign Fund of Egypt, Orascom Construction, and Fertiglobe in the Ain Sokhna Industrial Zone, was awarded the inaugural €397m ($462m) H2Global contract in 2024.
