Topsoe announced Synergen Green Energy had selected the firm for its ammonia loop technology, catalysts, and equipment as it looks to develop standardised plants for green hydrogen-based ammonia production.
Synergen’s first US plant is planned for Texas and is slated to have capacity to produce 210,000 tonnes of ammonia per year. The company expects to bring it online by Q4 2028, subject to final investment decision.
The firm is part of Indian industrial and manufacturing conglomerate Skeiron Group, which holds companies in renewables development, logistics and infrastructure.
It also has plans to build a 210,000 tonne per year plant in Nebraska, with operations targeted for 2029.
Currently, the company is planning to export its green ammonia output for industrial and maritime applications.
Topsoe claims its technology will allow ammonia production to be ramped up and down with fluctuating renewable energy supply at a rate of at least 3% per minute.
“We’re thrilled that Synergen selected Topsoe to collaborate on [its] impressive next-generation ammonia plants,” said Henrik Rasmussen, Topsoe Americas Managing Director.
Synergen CEO Pranav Tanti said the industry needed partnerships like this to make green fuel projects economically viable.
