Developers bidding for European Hydrogen Bank (EHB) support will face tougher requirements in the upcoming third auction, as the Commission moves to curb project dropouts.
After projects selected for subsidies in the first two EHB auctions dropped out, Alexandre Paquot, Director of Innovation for Clean Growth and Low Carbon Economy – DG CLIMA, European Commission, said policymakers were learning.
In the first auction, only five of the seven selected projects are proceeding with grant agreements in place, while seven of the 15 selected round two projects dropped out, prompting the Commission to invite 10 reserve projects to negotiate grants.
