Allowing flexible grid rules could reduce green hydrogen production costs by 30% to €4/kg ($4.70) in Spain, according to Moeve’s Hydrogen Director.

Speaking at European Hydrogen Week, Joaquín Rodriguez showed the Spanish oil and gas firm’s proposal to minimise green hydrogen production costs, without major changes to RFNBO rules.

He said the additionality and temporal correlation requirements had not been synchronised with grid developments, grid cost allocation, and how tariffs are being set – all adding costs.
