However, the Indian renewables firm has not disclosed the volume of green ammonia to be supplied to Japan.
“By supplying green ammonia, India is poised to become a global hub for green energy production,” Acme stated on LinkedIn.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed during the Indian Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi’s visit to Japan.
“This partnership aligns with [Acme’s] vision for a decarbonised world but also reinforces India’s commitment to its climate goals,” the company added.
The deal follows Acme’s successful bids in India’s green ammonia auction series, which recently concluded.
Acme Cleantech won three contracts to supply the hydrogen derivative at ₹64.74/kg ($0.74/kg), ₹62.84/kg ($0.72/kg), and ₹49.75/kg ($0.57/kg), respectively.
Through the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) tenders, Acme won contracts to supply fertiliser sites, including Indorama’s Haldia plant and Paradeep Phosphates’ Goa plant.
The deals contribute to a national programme that has secured around 724,000 tonnes per year of green ammonia.
