Awarded under Mode-2A, Tranch-1 of the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) SIGHT scheme, the renewable energy firm will deliver green ammonia to Madhya Bharat Agro Products’ plant in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh.
The third auction marks a continued decline in green ammonia prices in India, with a third consecutive bid in under a month coming in below ₹60/kg.
Oriana Power’s $600-per-tonne green ammonia bid falls between NTPC’s ₹51.8/kg ($0.59/kg) and Acme’s ₹55.75/kg ($0.64/kg), highlighting a consistent pricing trend and a tightly contested market among leading bidders.
“These milestones aren’t just numbers; they signal commercial viability, global competitiveness and a national commitment to scaling clean energy,” the SECI said in a statement.
This was the third of up to 13 planned auctions, which will each channel supply to different fertiliser plants across the country.
With prices now nearing $0.59/kg, green ammonia is closing in on cost parity with Indian grey ammonia, which averaged $0.515/kg ($515/tonne) as of March.
