
Grey hydrogen is expected to remain the dominant source of the molecule in the US through 2050, even as total production increases by around 80%, according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).
By mid-century, the EIA estimates that electrolysers will account for less than 1% of hydrogen production, despite the presence of supportive policies, while blue hydrogen’s relatively small role will be underpinned by tax credits.
