Dubbed THera™, the technology can be used for hydrogen storage systems for refuelling stations that are designed for pressures in the range of 240-bar to up to 1000-bar.

Further to that, the innovation can be used with tube trailers with customised dimensions and lengths to optimise design for reliable hydrogen transportation and allows the transportation of hydrogen safely up to 100% hydrogen gas in high pressure, onshore and offshore transmission pipelines.

On the release, Marco Tivelli, Vice-President of Research and Development at Tenaris, said, “We are a company that continuously invests to move our industry forward.

“And with the energy transition underway, we are applying our decades of expertise to further develop and enhance our solutions for a full spectrum of applications, like hydrogen, that requires steels with microstructural characteristics designed to avoid embrittlement even under high pressures.”

Tenaris first showcased its Thera™ technology at the Carbon Capture and Hydrogen Technology Expo Europe, which was held earlier this month in Bremen, Germany.
