The funding, provided by the Low-Carbon Energy Research Funding Initiative (LCER FI), will go towards projects that aim to reduce costs and increasing the efficiency of hydrogen-related processes.
For example, the selected projects will look at developing easier ways to transport hydrogen through the use of ammonia in addition to developing sensors to detect hydrogen leaks.
As well as this, another unique project will explore reducing the cost of using liquid organic hydrogen carriers for the transportation of hydrogen.
