That’s what Mo Vargas, CEO of BayoTech told H2 View’s North American Virtual Hydrogen Summit last week (Oct 19), when he stated the 2020s as the “decade of hydrogen”.

Detailing the company’s hydrogen hub plan, Vargas said, “BayoTech wants to either provide the molecule or provide the equipment for hydrogen production.”

Vargus was in-fact speaking from Salt Lake, the location of one of the company’s already operational hubs – and told the audience about the company’s newly unveiled Utah hub plans.

“Bayotech just had an announcement at the Capitol Hill talking about another hub that we’re going to be doing here with the Utah Inland Port Authority, together with Dominion Energy and with Lancer Energy.

“We’re going to be very, very focussed on getting all of these hubs deployed in 2022 and 2023. And really the key here is to provide security, resiliency and redundancy and have hydrogen throughout North America and the UK.

“Next, we’ll be targeting Australia, Japan and Korea.”

Illustrating the recent enhanced commitment to hydrogen and clean fuels, Vagas said, “There’s been quite a lot of of announcements for 2030 about, you know, close to $350bn of investment, 75 countries now have net zero targets, 31 specifically with hydrogen strategies and 228 hydrogen projects under development.

“I’m sure every day that number is going up higher and higher.”

Stating the company’s plans for its hubs, he continued, “One developed, these hubs are going to be anywhere from one to five tonnes per day. Our patented reformer that we use, it will do the job with 20-30% less energy saving money and reducing carbon footprint.

“We feel that our highly efficient model of local production and distribution helps to make us more sustainable, accessible and affordable, which at the end of the day, I think is what we all want to be with hydrogen.

“A big part of our ecosystem and customers are we’re working with today is to really make the core infrastructure side of hydrogen easy for them. Whether it’s by us providing molecules, whether it’s by leasing equipment or by even selling equipment, we just want to make the whole side of getting the hydrogen fuel easy for our customers.”

To enhance BayoTech’s offering for its hydrogen hubs, the company has inked many partnerships and even carried out multiple acquisitions.

Speaking about the company’s most recent acquisition of IGX Group, Vargas said, “With the acquisition of IGX Group, were able to get into the high-pressure housing, transport and storage.”

Through doing this, BayoTech is now a full-service hydrogen supplier, offering localised production, transport, storage and fuelling solutions.”
