Wood to deliver engineering services for Zeevonk joint hydrogen project

Zeevonk, the joint venture between the two companies, will see 2GW of offshore wind capacity and a 50MWp floating offshore wind farm to power a large-scale electrolyser. The onshore electrolyser will be located in the Maasvlakte section of the Port of Rotterdam.

UK-based Wood will conduct FEED work for the hydrogen facility over the next ten months and provide detailed cost estimates for the upcoming equipment, procurement and construction (EPC) process in Q2.

Expected to be operational in 2029, the plant will be “designed to reach significant peak consumption.” Zeevonk will reportedly produce 1GW of hydrogen production capacity.

Once complete, the hydrogen produced will be transported via pipeline to the nearby hydrogen grid network in Rotterdam.

“Our role in delivering this project underpins Wood’s commitment to delivering low-carbon solutions for clients and driving forward the accessibility and scalability of low-emissions energy sources around the globe.”

This marks Wood’s third collaboration with CIP.

Last year, the British consulting and engineering company was selected as the “Owner’s Engineer” for CIP’s Catalina Project in Spain, which the government recently chose for the Hydrogen Valley initiative.
