Doosan will start commercial production of SOFCs this year. The company expects the systems to be used in maritime and stationary applications.
Alleima’s Sanergy high-temperature pre-coating material for the fuel cell’s interconnects will be provided to Doosan, as the SOFC fuel cell operates at high temperatures, ranging from 500-700°C, due to its high efficiency.
“We are pleased that Alleima has been given the opportunity to supply pre-coated material for use in interconnects with our unique mass production technique,” explained Mikael Blazquez, Executive Vice-President and Head of Strategy at Alleima.
“Alleima provides material for a key component in the fuel cell industry, an end-market that aligns well with our growth strategy. We will through our innovations contribute and play an important role in the transition to more sustainable energy.”
Last March, Doosan’s SOFC stack successfully passed a DNV environmental test for marine applications. The company is now progressing towards testing and certifying the remaining components of the SOFC system, paving the way for its deployment on ships and full-scale demonstrations.
