After securing an Integrated Environmental Authorisation for the Hysencia plant, DH2 will begin construction early next year (2025) and it’s planned to produce 1,700 tonnes of renewable hydrogen each year to support the mobility and industrial sectors.
Boasting a 35MW electrolysis and 49MWp solar photovoltaic plant, the project will produce 99GWh of renewable electricity each year to power the electrolyser. In addition, it will feature a 10MW connection to the electricity grid.
The Hysencia project became one of the winners in the first European renewable hydrogen auction in April (2024), in which the European Commission selected seven projects out of a total 132.

“Hysencia is one of the most advanced commercial-scale renewable hydrogen production plants in Spain,” claimed DH2 Energy’s Renewable Hydrogen Projects Development Director for Spain, Raquel Fernández Corzo.
“This project has a territorial vocation and will have a very positive impact in Aragon, during both the construction and operational phases for the generation of its green hydrogen as a clean energy vector.”
Hysencia is location is suited for the supply of renewable hydrogen to the transport sector as it is close to different land communication axes, such as the Huesca-Canfranc railway line.
